EVgo, the Nation’s Largest Public Fast Charging Network, Is Expanding Rapidly
EVgo’s public EV charging network was founded in 2010, during the start of the green wave of zero emission transportation. The EVgo network offered charging discounts to those facing hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is currently experiencing exponential growth, with new EV charging stations getting built on a constant basis.
Nation’s largest public network of DC fast chargers
In the United States, over 130 million people live within a 10-mile radius of an EVgo fast charger. EVgo offers the nation’s largest public network of DC fast chargers, powered by 100% renewable energy. The company currently has over 800 convenient and reliable fast charging stations in 68 metropolitan areas.
EVgo has more than a decade of experience owning and operating the nation’s largest public fast charging network. EVgo currently works with utilities, government agencies, automakers, site hosts, fleets, and other stakeholders to accelerate transportation electrification.

Electric vehicle industry-leading reliability
EVgo has electric vehicle industry-leading reliability, committed to 98% network uptime. PlugShare consistently reports top consumer scores on EVgo from their ever-growing membership, consisting of over 310,000 customers across the United States.
Accelerating the transition to clean energy
EVgo is committed to protecting the environment by making it as easy as possible for drivers to go electric. The company states: “We’re helping to clean up the air and tackle climate change, one charge at a time.”
EV charging powered by 100% renewable energy
EVgo has been the only EV charging network powered by 100% renewable energy since 2019. EVgo purchases a corresponding kWh Renewable Energy Credit (REC) from an accredited REC supplier, for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumed on its network. EVgo customers can rest assured that they’re supporting clean energy and helping to tackle climate change with every charge at an EVgo station.
Partnering for the good of the planet
EVgo was named to the Global Cleantech 100 List. EVgo’s Jonathan Levy is a founding board member of Veloz, a nonprofit organization that engages its powerhouse of members, public-private partnerships, programs, policy engagement and public awareness campaigns to overcome barriers to electrification. EVgo rewards program
The company announced a new program in 2021 that allows customers with the EVgo app to reserve a charging spot ahead of their visit, to make charging easier without the wait. EVgo Rewards™ is a customer loyalty program providing EV drivers the opportunity to earn points towards free fast charging sessions when they charge at EVgo locations. The launch followed a successful pilot program with more than 4,000 customers, making EVgo the first nationwide public EV charging network to offer a rewards program for its expanding customer base.
Collaboration with site host partners
Lazy Acres Natural Market, a grocer with five locations in the Southern California area, partnered with EVgo to build EV charging stations at their locations. EVgo works with a variety of site host partners to bring EV fast charging amenities to their customers and community. Together, Lazy Acres and EVgo have made a significant sustainability impact by supplying EV charging. Read more about the sustainability impact of the chargers in this case study.
In this video, the Store Director of Lazy Acres’ Hermosa Beach location speaks about hosting fast chargers.
Promoting new EV charging stations
EVgo often hosts a ribbon-cutting ceremony to drum up local interest in new stations. The company also has been working with some of its partner property owners to install neon signs and with state governments to place signs advertising its locations on the side of the highway.
Jonathan Levy, Chief Commercial Officer at EVgo said: “EV drivers have range confidence, meaning they know how far their cars can go and how to find charging stations. But the non-EV driver has range anxiety—they need to have their eye brought to stations.”
Collaboration with the City of Sacramento
In 2019, The City of Sacramento, California collaborated with EVgo to open California’s first-ever curbside high-powered charging plaza for electric vehicles at Southside Park.
The Southside Park location includes a total of six ABB curbside chargers, including three 50-kilowatt DC fast chargers capable of delivering up to 90 miles of range in 30 minutes, and three 150- kilowatt DC fast chargers capable of delivering up to 150 miles of range in 30 minutes.
“ABB has collaborated with EVgo for several years in pioneering infrastructure technology such as the first public CCS and high-power charging systems in North America,” added Bob Stojanovic, Director of ABB’s EV infrastructure business for North America. “This first-ever curbside high-power charging plaza is the latest milestone in our shared mission to deliver a convenient, high-quality user experience to all EV drivers.”
