The Boulder™ is engineered to increase an EV’s towing range, unlocking the joys of camping to more EV owners. One of the company’s Massachusetts customers, who placed an early reservation, described The Boulder™ as an “Intriguing innovation toward an electric future.” The company is delighted to announce the completion of the first stage of product development that employs Level 2 charging.

Presently, the company is making headway on DC-to-DC Level 3 fast charging between the trailer and the tow vehicle. Furthermore, the company is finalizing purchase agreements for battery systems. To propel The Boulder™, Colorado Teardrops has entered into a strategic partnership with a leading automotive manufacturer, working on technology that directly enhances The Boulder™.

Founder Dean Wiltshire says, “With the electrification of the auto industry, solutions such as The Boulder are needed to enable the mass adoption of electric tow vehicles.”

The efficiency of Colorado Teardrops’ designs extends beyond sustainability; the company innovates with performance in mind. Dean Wiltshire, Lead Engineer, is pioneering the way for enhanced towing ranges in EVs. With auxiliary battery storage and streamlined aerodynamics, the company anticipates a net gain in overall range when an EV is towing a Colorado Teardrops EV Camper. For instance, an EV with a 300-mile range could potentially exceed this when towing The Boulder™ due to the auxiliary power supply on-board.

But innovation doesn’t stop at The Boulder™. The company announced the addition of two new models to our lineup, aptly named after our Colorado roots: the 17ft model, “The Golden,” and the grand 27ft, “The Denver”. Both are specifically engineered for EV owners, designed to rival luxury RV travel trailers. These models incorporate a signature aerodynamic design, minimizing air resistance to optimize towing range. Battery capacities will range from 75 kWh for The Golden to a whopping 200 kWh for The Denver.

While The Boulder retains the classic teardrop trailer dimensions, The Golden and The Denver introduce a revolutionary hardshell top. This feature retracts for a low aerodynamic profile when towing and extends to provide a spacious 6’6″ of standing room when camping. Both models offer indoor kitchen galleys, bathrooms with showers, and premium exterior and interior finishes, upholding a commitment to delivering quality craftsmanship.

The company is now accepting reservations for The Boulder, with delivery expected in the first half of 2023. Built to withstand extreme weather and road conditions, the camper trailers are made to last generations. Proudly designed and manufactured in Boulder, Colorado, the company employs high-grade materials and construction processes to ensure the products can accompany you on adventures for years to come.
