Jeep Reveals Plan for Global Leadership in the Electric SUV Sector

The Jeep® brand has revealed an ambitious strategy for its next generation of fully electric 4xe vehicles, positioning itself at the forefront of sustainable transformation to become the world’s leading electrified SUV brand. This comprehensive plan, premiered on the brand’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/thejeepchannel), envisions the launch of four all-electric SUVs in North America and Europe by the end of 2025.

As a significant part of an all-encompassing product plan, Jeep anticipates that half of its U.S. sales will be comprised of fully electric vehicles by 2030, while in Europe, all sales will be fully electric by this same year. This strategy fully aligns with the net-zero carbon emissions targets set by Stellantis during the Dare Forward 2030 long-term strategic plan.

“Driven by the success of our electrified 4xe portfolio in North America and Europe, we are designing and developing the most capable and sustainable Jeep SUVs to date, on our path to becoming the leading zero-emission SUV brand in the world,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO. “This is a forward-thinking strategy to help ensure millions of Jeep fans around the world continue to have a planet to explore, embrace and protect. Electrification is great for our brand, making it even more capable, exciting, sustainable and fun.”

The Jeep brand recently unveiled the first pictures of two fully electric SUVs—the brand-new Jeep Recon and another new model tentatively named Wagoneer S. These exciting new vehicles will be hitting the markets not just in North America but across the globe. Adding to these anticipations, the Jeep brand has reaffirmed its commitment to launching the all-new, all-electric Jeep Avenger in Europe at the start of the coming year. These strategic moves indicate the brand’s commitment to a sustainable future encapsulated in the electrification of its fleet.

Building upon the success of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) in the U.S., and the recently introduced Grand Cherokee 4xe, the Jeep brand is poised to lead the way in electrified transportation. This innovative range of electrified vehicles is being specifically designed to not only maintain but enhance the brand’s legendary off-road capability, delivering the power and performance enthusiasts expect from a Jeep.

In addition to their impressive performance features, these electrified vehicles offer increased fuel efficiency and lower emissions, making them a more sustainable choice for drivers. Through this comprehensive electrification strategy, Jeep is effectively expanding its reach in the North American market and positioning itself as a frontrunner in the shift towards sustainable transportation.

“With the continuous expansion of the 4xe technology across our entire portfolio, we are redefining freedom and adventure in a way that only the Jeep brand can,” said Jim Morrison, head of Jeep brand North America. “By the end of 2025, our full lineup will be electrified, including four all-electric vehicles competing in the heart of the marketplace.”

Jeep’s electrification plan doesn’t stop at introducing just a few electrified models. In fact, it also comprises the extension of the Wagoneer portfolio. True to its commitment, the brand will be launching an all-new, all-electric Wagoneer in the highly competitive premium midsize SUV segment. Further, the Wagoneer models in the large SUV category will offer powertrains that target an estimated 500 miles of combined range, pushing the boundaries of long-distance electric travel.

By the year 2030, Jeep aims to offer a sweeping range of new battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), thereby establishing its dominance in the SUV industry in terms of the number of models, segment participation, and sales volume. The brand’s strategy is so comprehensive that it is estimated that by 2030, half of the Jeep brand sales in the U.S. will be of all-electric vehicles. This strategic vision underscores Jeep’s commitment to not only embrace but spearhead the shift towards sustainable and environmentally conscious transportation.
