Enel X Way and Sunrun Partner to Offer Smart Electric Vehicle Home Charging Stations
In a significant development, Enel X Way, the global e-mobility operation of the Enel Group, declared a strategic partnership with Sunrun (Nasdaq: RUN), a premier provider of home solar, battery storage, and clean energy services in the nation. This collaboration aims to supply smart Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, augmenting Sunrun’s recently unveiled EV charger offerings. The introduction of these new co-branded home EV chargers will enhance Sunrun’s assortment of energy management solutions, while catering to the burgeoning demand for electric cars and trucks nationwide.
With the Edison Electric Institute forecasting that 26.4 million EVs will be cruising along U.S. roads by 2030, the demand for EV infrastructure is poised to skyrocket. To accommodate this surge, the U.S. will need approximately 21.7 million private chargers by 2030, as indicated by BloombergNEF’s 2022 EV Charging Infrastructure Outlook report. This growing demand for electric vehicles and the necessary charging infrastructure underscores the timeliness and potential impact of the strategic partnership between Enel X Way and Sunrun in reshaping the landscape of e-mobility.
