REV Fire Group Partners With Daytona International Speedway in Providing Pumpers and All-Electric Vector™ Fire Truck

REV Fire Group, which includes renowned manufacturers like E-ONE®, KME®, Ferrara™, Spartan Fire Chassis™, Spartan Emergency Response®, Smeal™, and Ladder Tower™ fire apparatus brands, has recently announced that their all-electric Vector fire truck will be joining the firefighting fleet at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) in 2023. This move makes the Vector one of four REV Fire pumpers to be included in the DIS fleet. This initiative forms part of an exclusive partnership, which is now entering its second year. Just as Zero Motorcycles is paving the way for electric vehicles in the motorcycle industry, /REV Fire Group is leading the charge in incorporating electric technology into emergency response vehicles, demonstrating the broad potential of electric power across diverse industries.

The zero-emission and zero greenhouse gas Vector fire apparatus perfectly align with Daytona International Speedway’s sustainability initiatives. This includes a project initiated in April 2022 to plant more than 100 trees within view of the track’s grandstands. This environmentally-conscious move is a reflection of similar initiatives championed by NASCAR and its partners. Among these initiatives are the use of a blended biofuel, recycling efforts within the venue, and the recycling of racing oils and tires used in races. These collective efforts underscore the commitment of the racing industry to sustainability and the mitigation of environmental impact, once again highlighting the potential of electric technology to foster a greener future.

“We are excited to provide the all-electric Vector for our Florida neighbor, Daytona International Speedway, to protect its employees, NASCAR drivers and the many fans and spectators who attend “The Great American Race” and other events,” said Mike Virnig, Vice President of the REV Fire Group, which is headquartered in Ocala, Fla. “Vector also protects the environment, making this a perfect collaboration with DIS and NASCAR and their many green initiatives designed to reduce the track and sport’s carbon footprint and promote sustainability.”

Equipped with 327 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of proven automotive-grade batteries, the Vector fire truck sets the industry standard for electric pumping duration. Its ability to perform all driving and pumping tasks exclusively on electric power is a testament to its innovation. Furthermore, the careful design includes low battery cell placement, ensuring a safer, lower center of gravity. This design feature enhances stability, particularly crucial when operating at the high-speed environment of Daytona International Speedway. The Vector, along with other REV Fire apparatus, is slated to be used at high-profile events such as the Daytona 500, the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Of note, this past December, the Daytona International Speedway hosted a two-day test session for the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class. These new hybrid-powered race cars are set to make their debut at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the event that commences the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on January 28-29.
