Recon and EV Blocks Ltd. Partner to Meet Growing North American Demand for EV Charging Station Foundations

Recon, a precast concrete licensing company based in Minnesota, is thrilled to announce a revolutionary partnership with UK-based EV Blocks Ltd. This collaboration aims to introduce universal precast charging base foundations to the North American market. This initiative is timely, considering the projected requirement for over 1.5 million charging stations by 2030. The recent passing of the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill will provide substantial funding for this extensive buildout, making this partnership not only strategic but also crucial in ushering in a new era of electric vehicle infrastructure

EV Blocks’ precast foundations have seen robust sales across the UK, a trend driven largely by their patent-pending design. This design uniquely features a universal top plate and side openings for conduit installation, making these foundations an ideal choice for nearly all Level 2 charger installations. By employing precast technology, these foundations effectively simplify the installation process, circumventing the time-consuming need to pour and cure concrete foundations on-site. As these precast blocks are manufactured in advance in approved facilities, they arrive ready for immediate installation. This approach not only saves days of labor but also eliminates the need for raw material order lead times, making the process significantly more efficient.

EV Blocks are now available to North American licensees.

Recon, an established licensor of precast products, specializes in retaining wall and light pole base solutions. With an extensive network of expert precast producers, primarily concentrated in North America, Recon stands as a prominent figure in the precast concrete industry. Now, in partnership with EV Blocks, Recon is poised to redefine the standards for EV charger foundations. EV Blocks’ innovative foundations have already gained momentum in the UK market, and Recon now plans to extend these groundbreaking solutions across North America. Over the next few months, Recon will leverage its extensive network and dedicated support to assist precast concrete producers throughout the region, aiming to streamline the production and installation of EV charger foundations. This strategic move underscores Recon’s commitment to fostering innovation and efficiency in the precast concrete industry, potentially transforming the landscape of electric vehicle infrastructure in North America.

“We are incredibly excited about this new product,” says Recon’s President Mike Klotthor. “As EV charging infrastructure buildout accelerates, the need for reliable solutions will be critical. That’s where EV Blocks really shines. By combining a readily available product with efficient installation, installers will be able to stay on schedule and complete more jobs.”
