Beam Global Launches ‘EV Arc’ Sustainable EV Charging Infrastructure Products

Beam Global’s latest unveiling, the third generation EV ARC™ product line, marks a significant step forward in sustainable energy solutions. These solar-powered EV charging systems have been upgraded to withstand wind speeds up to 160 mph, a feature that underlines their resilience and reliability. Recognized by the federal General Services Administration (GSA) as vital for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, EV ARC™ infrastructure systems demonstrate remarkable energy security capabilities during grid outages or natural disasters. Notably, these systems are capable of operating under 9.5 feet of flooding.

The EV ARC™ systems not only generate and store their own clean energy but can also incorporate any brand of quality EV charger. Furthermore, an optional Emergency Power Panel can be added, offering 120v and 240v outlets for first responders or authorized personnel during power outages. This resilience was proven during Hurricane Idalia, where EV ARC™ systems in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas continued to provide crucial EV charging and emergency power throughout the storm.

“Beam’s mission-driven culture goes beyond sustainable EV charging and energy storage to address the global problem of energy resilience faced by electric grids worldwide,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global. “We believe 25% of EV charging infrastructure should be off-grid and powered by locally generated and stored electricity so that we can ensure that we have redundant sources of fuel during the rapid transition to electrified transportation and growing threats from climate change and other externalities which can put our centralized grid infrastructure at risk. The United States has a Strategic Petroleum Reserve to ensure that we do not run out of diesel or gasoline. Now Beam Global’s products are providing the beginnings of a Strategic Electric Reserve so that we have the same level of security as we transition to the electrification of everything.”

In the face of increasing weather-related events causing power outages, the reliability and resilience of the EV ARC™ line become even more critical. According to Climate Central U.S. data analysis, weather events have contributed to approximately 83% of all reported power outages from 2000-2021. Moreover, the most recent decade (2011-2021) has seen a 64% increase in major power outages compared to its predecessor, leading to an estimated yearly cost of $150B-$200B to U.S. businesses.

The Disaster Purchasing Program by the GSA allows not only federal, but also state and local governments to procure directly from GSA Schedules. This program aims to expedite disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. The next-generation Beam products, including the upgraded EV ARC™ systems, are available on the GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) under Contract Number 47QSWA21D0006. This availability simplifies procurement and ensures best pricing for local, state, and federal agencies.
