This achievement underscores Volvo Trucks’ commitment to sustainability and innovation, as well as its ambition to lead the transition to a transportation sector free from fossil fuels. With these recent deliveries, Volvo electric trucks are now in operation on six continents and in 45 countries, a testament to their versatility, reliability, and performance.

There is a burgeoning interest among transport companies in Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay to transition toward greener, sustainable methods of heavy transport. This shift is evidently reflected in the recent surge in orders for Volvo electric trucks. Brazil, with its rapidly expanding economy, represents a significant market for Volvo Trucks.

“Many haulers in Latin America have high ambitions regarding zero-emission truck transport. We are very proud and excited to have been chosen to support our customers as they start their electrification journey. We believe that more transport companies will soon follow,” says Wilson Lirmann, President of Volvo Trucks Latin America.

In Brazil, one of the largest logistics operators, Reiter Log, has introduced five Volvo FM Electric vehicles into their fleet, operating across various routes. These trucks are provided through a rental agreement with Volvo Financial Services. Meanwhile, in Chile, two companies, SQM and El Libertador, have each incorporated a Volvo electric truck into their operations, the FH model. Over in Uruguay, Bitafal has made a similar move, utilizing a Volvo electric truck (the FM model) for their transportation needs. The electric versions of both the Volvo FH and Volvo FM are capable of operating at a total weight of 44 tons. Notably, these trucks can cover a range of up to 300 kilometers on a full charge, further demonstrating their efficiency and reliability in heavy transport.

Volvo electric trucks have remained at the forefront of the electric truck industry since Volvo pioneered serial production of electric trucks in 2019. Presently, the company boasts an extensive electric line-up, including a total of six electric truck models designed to accommodate a wide array of transport assignments. These trucks cater to a range of operations, spanning from city distribution and refuse handling to regional transport and construction work. This diverse portfolio underscores Volvo Trucks’ dedication to facilitating a versatile, sustainable transport solution. As part of its continued commitment to environmental responsibility, Volvo Trucks has set an ambitious goal: by 2030, it aims for 50% of global sales to be new Volvo electric trucks.
