Ford’s Electrified Vehicle Sales up 38% in 2024 Compared to 2023
As we predicted at EVinfo.net, Ford’s EV sales in America continue to soar. Total Ford electrified vehicle sales (hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric) hit a record 285,291 in 2024, up 38%, outselling GM and Stellantis’ electrified vehicles for the full year.
A key factor driving this success was Ford’s “Power Promise” program, which offers customers a complimentary home charger with standard installation and access to a 24/7 Ford advisor for electric vehicle support. This initiative helped Ford achieve a new record for electric vehicle sales in the fourth quarter, with 30,176 EVs sold. Due to the program’s success, Ford has extended the complimentary home charger offer into 2025 to maintain momentum.
Ford’s EV lineup had standout performances in 2024, with each vehicle setting new sales records. The Mustang Mach-E saw sales increase by 27%, totaling 51,745 units, while the F-150 Lightning achieved 33,510 sales, up 39%. The E-Transit also posted a remarkable 64% increase, reaching 12,610 units sold. The Mustang Mach-E was particularly successful, posting its best-ever quarterly sales result in Q4 with 16,119 vehicles sold, making it America’s second-best-selling electric SUV.
Hybrid vehicles also contributed significantly to Ford’s success, with total hybrid vehicle sales reaching a record 187,426 units, a 40% increase from 2023. The F-150 Hybrid led the charge, becoming America’s best-selling hybrid truck with 73,845 units sold, a 47% increase. The Maverick Hybrid also set a new sales record, selling 68,752 units, up 31%.
Ford Motor Company achieved solid growth in 2024, with retail sales rising by 6%, more than double the estimated industry-wide increase. The fourth quarter saw an even stronger performance, with a 17% rise in retail sales. This growth was largely driven by a 25% retail sales gain for the F-Series.
The Ford F-Series exemplified the company’s “Freedom of Choice” strategy, which offers a variety of powertrain options, including gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric models. All versions of the F-Series saw year-over-year sales growth in December, reinforcing Ford’s unique position as the only truck manufacturer to offer such a wide range of powertrain choices. Total F-Series sales in the fourth quarter were up 21%, solidifying the F-Series as America’s best-selling truck for the 48th consecutive year.
For the full year, Ford’s total sales increased by 4%, with 2,078,832 vehicles sold. This outpaced the broader industry, which saw an estimated 2% sales growth in 2024, and Ford also gained market share both in total and retail sales.
Looking ahead to 2025, Ford has bolstered its vehicle inventory to address expected supply challenges during plant changeovers related to key product launches, including the new Expedition, Navigator, and Bronco. This proactive move is part of Ford’s strategy to keep its product lineup fresh and appealing to customers and dealers.
EVinfo.net recommends Ford’s EVs. We commend the company on its innovative “Power Promise” program. Using the program, if you purchase or lease a Ford electric vehicle you’ll be eligible for a complimentary home charger and standard installation.
