Hyundai Electrified Vehicle Retail Sales for Q4 Grew 64% Compared with Q4 2023
As we predicted at EVinfo.net, Hyundai Motor America’s EV sales continue to soar. Hyundai Motor America achieved record-breaking sales in December 2024, reaching a total of 78,498 units, which represents a 4% increase compared to December 2023. This marked the highest December sales total in the company’s history. Notable highlights included all-time sales records for the Santa Fe HEV (up 87%), Tucson HEV (up 133%), and IONIQ 5 (up 41%). Overall, Hyundai’s hybrid vehicle sales surged by 85%, and total electric vehicle (EV) sales grew by 12%.
In addition to these overall successes, Hyundai also set a new retail sales record in December, with 66,159 units sold, reflecting a 9% year-over-year increase. Specifically, retail sales for EVs rose by 13%, hybrid retail sales grew by 79%, and total electrified vehicle sales (EV, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid) jumped 50%. This performance underscores the strong demand for Hyundai’s electrified vehicle offerings.
“This was an incredible record-breaking year for Hyundai, largely driven by the success of offering consumers a variety of product and powertrain options that fit their needs,” said Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor North America. “With exciting new models like the IONIQ 9 and increased US production ramping up at our new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia, I’m confident this momentum will continue. Hyundai achieved impressive sales performance in the fourth quarter of 2024, setting a new total sales record with 226,308 units sold, marking a 10% increase compared to Q4 2023. Notable models, including the Elantra N, Santa Fe HEV, Tucson HEV, and IONIQ 5, set Q4 total sales records. Electrified vehicle retail sales for Q4 saw a significant 64% year-over-year growth.
For the full year, Hyundai’s total sales reached 836,802 units, reflecting a 4% increase compared to 2023 and setting a new all-time high for the brand. Key models such as the Tucson HEV, IONIQ 5, Santa Fe HEV, and Palisade also achieved new annual sales records. Hyundai also set a record for retail sales, totaling 742,009 units, which was a 4% increase from 2023. This marked the fourth consecutive year of setting new retail sales records. Fleet sales accounted for 11% of Hyundai’s total sales volume in 2024.
