Lotus Sets New EV Charging Record, Completing 10-80% in 13 Minutes, 35 Seconds

On January 24, 2025, Lotus announced it has taken a major step forward in transforming the EV experience across the Middle East with the launch of its new ultra-fast Hyper-Charger technology. Installed and tested in partnership with Lotus Al Ghanim, the brand’s official dealer in Kuwait, this liquid-cooled, all-in-one system is engineered to deliver some of the fastest charging speeds ever demonstrated in the region.

As a leader in high-performance innovation, Lotus designed the new charger to directly address two of the most common concerns among EV drivers: range anxiety and long charging times. Kuwait was selected as the proving ground for Lotus Flash Charge (LFC) thanks to its extreme heat, offering the ideal environment to push the system’s durability, thermal performance, and reliability.

The result is a sleek, compact, ultra-fast charging solution capable of delivering up to 450 kW. During testing, the Lotus Emeya achieved an astonishing 443 kW peak, nearly maxing out the charger’s capacity. This milestone translated into a remarkable real-world result: charging the Emeya from 10% to 80% in just 13 minutes and 35 seconds.
