Ben & Jerry’s Announces Sweet New Rivian Electric Ice Cream Truck

Imagine this: an electric ice cream truck rolling through your neighborhood, offering scoops of your favorite sweet treats with zero emissions. That dream is about to become a reality, as Rivian and Ben & Jerry’s have teamed up to create the Scoop Truck, a fully electric ice cream truck that combines sustainability with deliciousness.

The Scoop Truck Makes Its Debut at SXSW

This week, the Scoop Truck will make its grand debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Festival-goers will get a first look at the futuristic ice cream truck, and who knows—you might even be able to snag a scoop or two of Ben & Jerry’s iconic flavors while you’re at it.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. After its debut, the Scoop Truck will hit the road, attending Rivian community events and popping up in Vermont, the home state of Ben & Jerry’s. So, keep your eyes peeled—you might just spot it rolling by, dishing out your favorite ice cream in an eco-friendly way.

Powered by Rivian’s Commercial Van

The Scoop Truck is based on Rivian’s new Commercial Van, a vehicle that was launched last month in the US. You’ve probably already seen Rivian’s Electric Delivery Vans (EDVs) zipping around town, delivering packages for Amazon. But now, Rivian is stepping up its game, opening up the electric van to other partners like Ben & Jerry’s.

With a range of up to 161 miles on a single charge, the Scoop Truck will be able to cover plenty of ground, serving ice cream at events, catering gigs, and, of course, bringing sweet treats to neighborhoods far and wide. The Scoop Truck is designed to be more than just a quirky new way to enjoy ice cream—it’s part of Rivian’s and Ben & Jerry’s shared vision of a cleaner, greener future.

A Cool Partnership for a Cooler Future

Ben & Jerry’s U.S. Integrated Marketing Project Lead, Sean Slattery, spoke about the historic partnership. The collaboration makes sense, given both companies’ commitment to sustainability and their drive to tackle climate change in innovative ways.

“Rivian helped Ben & Jerry’s reduce our reliance on fossil fuels in a small way, while making things a little bit cooler… which, as an ice cream company, is extremely difficult to do,” said Slattery.

Rivian’s Commercial Van comes in two models: the Delivery 500 and Delivery 700, priced at $79,900 and $83,900, respectively. The Delivery 500 is perfect for navigating city streets, while the Delivery 700 offers more cargo space—ideal for larger catering setups or serving more ice cream at once.

The Future Is Sweet

The electric Scoop Truck represents a major leap forward in sustainable food service and transportation. Not only does it bring an exciting new twist to the classic ice cream truck, but it also reduces carbon footprints, proving that sustainability and indulgence can go hand in hand.

So, the next time you hear that familiar jingle in your neighborhood, there’s a good chance it might be the Scoop Truck—and you can rest easy knowing it’s not just serving up a sweet treat, but helping to save the planet, too.

EVinfo.net’s Take

I love Ben & Jerry’s not only for their delicious products, but the company’s strong commitment to a healthier environment and reducing its climate impact.

Ben & Jerry’s states on its website: If it’s melted, it’s ruined. It’s true for ice cream, and it’s true for the planet. We make delicious frozen things that rely on ingredients harvested from the earth (hey there, cows, nuts, chocolate chunks, and swirls!), so of course we’re invested in fighting the climate crisis. But we also live here, too. And so we’re calling on all of our fellow citizens on this Earth to demand that our elected leaders support a rapid transition to a clean-energy economy. Time is running out, but we have what we need to get started. Take action now!

Rivian is also strongly committed to the fight against climate change, as we are at EVinfo.net. In November, the heroic RJ Scaringe, CEO of Rivian, released this excellent video below explaining climate change and what we can do to fight it. Electric vehicles, the most eco-friendly form of transportation, are part of the answer. EVs also save drivers money.

Rivian is one of our favorite EV brands, along with Hyundai, Honda, GM and Ford. All of these great brands are quickly gaining market share every quarter in America and around the world.
