Pilot, GM and EVgo Connect National Travel Corridors with EV Charging Installed in Over 25 States
In an exciting development for electric vehicle (EV) owners, Pilot Company, General Motors (GM), and EVgo Inc. announced on Mar 25, 2025 that their collaborative charging network has now surpassed 130 EV fast-charging locations across more than 25 states. This expanded network is designed to elevate the EV driving experience, especially for long-distance travelers, by offering accessible and reliable fast-charging options along major interstates and popular road trip corridors.
As the spring and summer travel seasons approach, EV drivers can hit the road with confidence, knowing they’ll find conveniently located charging stations along some of the busiest highways in the country. Notable corridors such as I-75 (spanning Michigan to Georgia), Minneapolis to Milwaukee, Detroit to Cleveland, and Dallas to Nashville now feature fast-charging stations that support extended journeys. These efforts build on the collaboration initially announced in 2022 and are part of an ambitious plan to install up to 2,000 fast-charging stalls across 500 Pilot and Flying J travel center locations.
“As we strive to be the leading energy and experience provider people rely on to fuel their journeys, our travel centers are uniquely able to fill a need for EV owners who are looking to make the most of their miles,” said Shannon Sturgil, senior vice president of alternative fuels at Pilot. “The collaboration with General Motors and EVgo will continue to bring highway-based charging to more regions and routes where this infrastructure is needed.”

“Spring break is all about hitting the road, making memories, and enjoying the journey — not worrying about where to charge. By expanding fast-charging access along major travel routes, our work with Pilot Company and EVgo will give EV drivers more confidence to take long trips with ease,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy. “With more than 130 locations now open, which customers can easily find using the GM brand app, we’re helping ensure that charging is seamless and convenient—so drivers can focus on the adventure ahead.”
The partnership between Pilot, GM, and EVgo isn’t just about expanding infrastructure; it’s also about creating a premium experience for EV drivers. Unlike typical charging locations, these stations offer a wide range of amenities that make road trips more enjoyable. Drivers can take advantage of lounges, free Wi-Fi, on-site restaurants, grab-and-go food and beverage options, and a variety of grocery and convenience items, all while their vehicle charges.
Each location is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. With well-lit, centrally located charging stations open 24/7, modernized restrooms, and dedicated team members available around the clock, the network ensures that drivers can rest and recharge with peace of mind. Many Pilot locations also offer overhead canopies and pull-through charging stalls, making it easier for drivers towing trailers or larger vehicles to access the chargers.
“As part of our ongoing collaboration with Pilot Company and GM, we’re delivering a customer-centric charging experience across our country’s most traveled corridors, building new infrastructure to connect rural, urban and suburban communities,” said Dennis Kish, president of EVgo. “Infrastructure availability is a key factor for drivers considering the choice to drive electric, and EVgo will continue to deploy high-power charging infrastructure nationwide to support current and future EV drivers.”
With EVgo’s high-power chargers, which provide up to 350 kW of charging capacity, drivers can recharge their EVs in as little as 15 minutes—minimizing downtime and maximizing the time spent on the road. The network also supports seamless charging through Plug and Charge technology, allowing drivers with compatible EVs to charge without the need for additional apps or cards.
The expansion of this fast-charging network is more important than ever as EV adoption continues to rise across the U.S. In 2024, EV sales reached a record 1.3 million units, with a 15% increase in sales compared to the previous year’s final quarter. GM’s diverse range of EV models contributed to this growth, with GM-brand EV sales alone soaring by 50% in Q4 of 2024. As more consumers choose electric vehicles, reliable charging infrastructure is essential to supporting this shift to cleaner, more sustainable transportation.
A Bright Future for EV Drivers
As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, Pilot, GM, and EVgo remain committed to enhancing the charging experience for drivers. They plan to continue expanding the network, adding more charging stations across key highway corridors and offering even more reliable charging options for those on the road. The positive feedback from the EV driver community, with high ratings on platforms like PlugShare, reinforces the success of this initiative, with many citing the convenience, speed, and high-quality amenities at Pilot and Flying J locations.
For those looking to embark on their next road trip in an electric vehicle, the expanded charging network ensures a smoother, more enjoyable journey with confidence. With the continued expansion of EV infrastructure, long-distance electric travel is becoming more accessible and convenient than ever before.

EVinfo.net’s Take
At EVinfo.net, we are excited and encouraged by this news. Expanding EV charging is an absolutely vital endeavor, and we applaud Flying J, GM and EVgo for their great achievements in accomplishing this. However, one must not forget that EV adoption is being held back by the Republican party. Federally-funded EV charging is frozen, and the federal EV tax credit of up to $7,500 may be cut soon.
An important way to support EVs and EV charging in America is to support Democrats in elections, coming up fast on April 1. Support Josh Weil and Gay Valimont’s campaigns for Florida House seat.
