This exceptional performance reflects the ongoing demand for Porsche vehicles, led by a notable boost from the company’s expanding lineup of electric vehicles (EVs).
Fully electric vehicles accounted for 23 percent of all Porsche sales in Q1 2025, a major step forward in the company’s electrification strategy. At the forefront of this success is the Macan Electric, which made up nearly half (44.6 percent) of the Macan sales for the quarter. The Macan itself performed remarkably well, with a total of 7,486 units sold.

2025 Porsche Macan: A New Era of Performance with Electric Powertrain
The 2025 Porsche Macan lineup brings thrilling updates, with cutting-edge powertrains, enhanced efficiency, and refined performance capabilities. With two new electric models— the rear-wheel-drive Macan and the Macan 4S—Porsche redefines what’s possible for electric SUVs, blending power, precision, and sustainability.
Macan: Impressive Performance
The new rear-wheel-drive Macan is the lightest variant in the lineup, making it a perfect choice for those seeking an engaging driving experience without compromising on performance. This model is equipped with a 100 kWh high-voltage battery, offering substantial range and power while maintaining a lightweight structure. The rear-axle motor, which is shared with the Macan 4, delivers an impressive 250 kW (335 hp), allowing for a top track speed of 136 mph and a 0-60 mph time of just 5.4 seconds.
One of the standout features of the new Macan is its highly efficient power electronics. The motor is paired with a 480-amp pulse inverter that uses silicon carbide (SiC) transistors. This innovative semiconductor reduces switching losses and increases efficiency, enabling higher switching frequencies. The combination of this advanced inverter and the Launch Control system allows the Macan to produce up to 265 kW (355 hp) of overboost power, providing exhilarating acceleration.
In addition to the impressive performance, the Macan also benefits from being 243 pounds lighter than the all-wheel-drive Macan 4. This weight reduction, paired with the rear-wheel drive setup, contributes to an agile and responsive driving experience, making the Macan an ideal option for performance-oriented drivers.
Macan 4S: Unmatched Power and Handling
For those seeking even greater power, the Macan 4S delivers a truly remarkable performance upgrade. This model features a new rear-axle motor paired with a more powerful 600-amp SiC pulse inverter. The front-axle motor is the same as the one found in the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, resulting in a system output of 330 kW (442 hp), with the ability to push up to 380 kW (509 hp) during power overboost.
This performance translates into impressive acceleration and speed. With Launch Control engaged, the Macan 4S accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 149 mph. This level of performance is complemented by the Adaptive Air Suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which is now standard on the Macan 4S. PASM provides electronic damping control for optimized ride comfort and handling, while optional features like Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and rear-axle steering further enhance the vehicle’s agility and stability.
Charging and Efficiency: A Leap Forward
The 2025 Macan lineup also excels in terms of efficiency and charging capabilities. The integration of the 800-volt architecture from Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) allows for ultra-fast DC charging at up to 270 kW. Under ideal conditions, the high-voltage battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in just about 21 minutes when connected to a compatible DC fast-charging station.
The advanced thermal management, improved recuperation capabilities, and range-optimized aerodynamics (with a coefficient of drag, or cw, of 0.25) make the Macan not only a high-performance SUV but also one of the most efficient in its class.
Design and Comfort
While performance is at the forefront, the new Macan models retain all the hallmark design features that make this Porsche SUV a standout. The Macan’s progressive and timeless design is refined to enhance aerodynamics, contributing to its overall efficiency and dynamic capabilities. The sleek lines, aggressive stance, and luxurious cabin remain intact, with a focus on comfort and driver engagement.
The interior features a modern, high-tech cockpit with advanced infotainment systems and the latest Porsche Driver Experience interface. Standard equipment includes a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, ensuring that both performance and safety are balanced in every driving scenario.
Taycan Sees Slight Dip
While the overall picture for Porsche in Q1 2025 is overwhelmingly positive, there was a slight dip in Taycan sales. Deliveries of the all-electric Taycan totaled 1,019 units, a modest decrease compared to the same period in 2024. However, this slight decline does not overshadow the overall success of Porsche’s EV offerings, with the Macan Electric picking up the slack and driving the company’s electrification momentum.
Three New Body Variants, 13 Versions of Taycan
The range of Taycan models has never been more diverse. With three body variants, all-wheel and rear-wheel drive and various power levels of the Porsche E-Performance motors ranging from 402 hp to 1,019 hp, there are now 13 versions of the impressive vehicle.
“With the wide-ranging Taycan line-up, we meet a broad range of customer wishes and mobility needs. Our three latest models exemplify this exceptional breadth,” says Kevin Giek, Vice President Model Line. “Even the first generation of the Taycan GTS was already the standard-bearer for the model line, positioned between the Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo. And the new edition is no exception. And at the other end of the range, the Taycan 4 sports sedan combines high efficiency with the performance advantages of all-wheel drive.”

Enhanced Performance and Powertrain
One of the most significant updates for the 2025 Taycan is the introduction of a new rear-axle motor that delivers up to 107 additional horsepower compared to its predecessor. This boost in power is found across all models in the Taycan range, resulting in faster acceleration and even more dynamic driving capabilities.
Porsche has also enhanced its thermal management system and introduced a next-generation heat pump. These upgrades contribute to improved efficiency, enabling the Taycan to retain optimal performance even in varying conditions. The result is not just greater power, but also an electric sports car that feels more stable and responsive during spirited drives.
Increased Range and Faster Charging
The 2025 Taycan models now offer even more impressive range, thanks in part to more powerful batteries and refined software that optimize energy usage. The result is longer journeys with fewer charging stops, making the Taycan an even more practical option for drivers seeking a blend of high performance and everyday usability.
Charging time has also been reduced, thanks to an improved powertrain and increased charging speeds. Under ideal conditions, the 2025 Taycan can charge at up to 320 kW at 800-volt DC charging stations.
Improved Recuperation and Efficiency
Another exciting upgrade is the increased recuperation capacity during deceleration. The 2025 Taycan can now recuperate up to 400 kW during deceleration from high speeds, enabling it to capture and store more energy during braking.
Additionally, the optional all-wheel-drive strategy improves the vehicle’s traction and stability, making the Taycan more adaptable to various driving conditions, from dry roads to slippery surfaces.
Updated Porsche Driver Experience
In terms of technology, the 2025 Taycan comes with an even more extensive standard equipment list, ensuring that drivers get a premium experience right out of the gate. The latest generation of the Porsche Driver Experience is now available across all models, offering a more intuitive interface, enhanced connectivity, and a host of driver-assistance features. The cockpit is designed to offer a seamless blend of luxury and advanced tech, allowing drivers to focus on what matters most: the road ahead.
