At bauma 2025—the world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery—Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) made big waves with a major announcement this week: the debut of its first-ever fully electric lineup, headlined by the revolutionary A30 Electric articulated haul truck.

Billed as a “milestone moment in sustainable innovation,” Volvo CE’s presence at this year’s show in Munich marks a bold step toward a zero-emissions future. The company has become the first to introduce an all-electric articulated hauler in series production, once again making history in a segment it pioneered nearly six decades ago.

A Nod to the Past, A Leap Into the Future

The new A30 Electric isn’t just another electric vehicle—it’s a landmark achievement in heavy equipment. Designed to deliver serious performance with a payload capacity of 64,000 lb. (32 tons) and 23.3 cubic yards, the hauler is powered by a 245 kWh lithium-ion battery, capable of delivering a full day’s operation on a single charge.
