ParkMobile Expands Into eMobility Services in North America Following Parkopedia Acquisition

Following the recent acquisition of Parkopedia by EasyPark Group, ParkMobile announced on April 30, 2025 that it is launching as an eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) in North America, marking a major milestone in the evolution of its mobility services. The new EV charging functionality, powered by Parkopedia’s industry-leading infrastructure and expertise, will complement ParkMobile’s existing smart parking platform, creating a unified mobility experience for drivers across the continent.

With a user base of more than 65 million and deep roots in smart parking solutions, ParkMobile is uniquely positioned to extend its value to electric vehicle drivers. The introduction of seamless EV charging and payment services—accessible through in-vehicle infotainment systems and the ParkMobile app—will allow for more integrated cooperation with Charge Point Operators (CPOs), aggregators, and fleet providers. This expansion not only aligns with the rapid pace of EV adoption in North America, but also supports the broader transformation toward connected, intelligent transportation ecosystems.

The move builds on Parkopedia’s longstanding leadership in EV charging data and global in-car payments. As part of the EasyPark Group portfolio, ParkMobile will leverage Parkopedia’s automotive-grade data services to deliver precise, real-time charging availability, and multi-contract Plug & Charge support. These capabilities will enrich driver experiences and provide vehicle manufacturers with a scalable, premium EV charging solution embedded directly into the vehicle’s infotainment system.

ParkMobile’s expansion into eMobility services will create the most accurate and user-friendly eMSP in North America. Customers will be able to use their existing ParkMobile accounts to pay for both parking and EV charging in a single transaction, eliminating the frustration of juggling multiple apps and platforms. This streamlined approach answers the call of 97% of U.S. drivers surveyed in the 2025 In-Car Payments User Experience Report, who said they would value the ability to access multiple in-car payment services through one platform.

Highlighting the value of this new eMSP, Duncan Licence, Chief Product Officer, at Parkopedia, said: “This new eMSP service will offer significant value to drivers, fleets and OEMs, by combining the value of our extensive parking and charging data with in-car transactions and making this easily accessible to more than 65 million existing ParkMobile customers. We know drivers value being able to access their driving-related services in one platform, with confidence in utilizing the best available tariffs to charge, and in-car payments becoming increasingly demanded by drivers, with this new eMSP offering covering all this and more.”

For fleet operators, the benefits are equally significant. ParkMobile’s new eMSP functionality will integrate directly with existing fleet management systems, simplifying operations and optimizing routes with the help of intelligent, cost-aware charging recommendations. Fleets will be empowered to reduce expenses by identifying the lowest-cost charging locations across networks while also improving vehicle utilization and reducing downtime. By consolidating both parking and charging transactions into a single invoice, the platform also streamlines administrative processes and enhances cost control.

Scott Booker, General Manager of Parking at EasyPark Group, parent company of ParkMobile, stated: “ParkMobile is committed to expanding direct integrations with a growing network of CPOs to deliver a seamless, high-quality experience for drivers, fleets, and OEMs. The announcement of our new eMSP service represents a significant step forward in our ability to provide added value to our customers—particularly as EV adoption accelerates and demand for frictionless charging solutions continues to rise.”

As public charging costs continue to vary widely, ParkMobile’s transparent pricing and optimized routing can make the difference between savings and overspending—especially for fleets transitioning from internal combustion engine vehicles to EVs. Meanwhile, drivers will benefit from less time spent searching for charging stations, greater reliability thanks to real-time availability data, and the convenience of in-car and mobile access to all services.

This launch represents a significant step forward for ParkMobile and the wider EasyPark Group. By merging parking and charging into a single, intuitive experience, ParkMobile is not only responding to evolving driver needs, but also laying the groundwork for a smarter, more sustainable future in mobility.

EVinfo.net’s Take: Why EV Charging at Public and Private Parking Spaces Is Important

One of the top barriers to EV ownership is “range anxiety”—the fear of running out of charge without access to a nearby charging station. Curbside spaces, as well as public and private parking lots and garages, are ideal locations to combat this concern. When drivers know they can charge while shopping, dining, or attending appointments, they’re more likely to make the switch to electric. Curbside EV charging is a growing business opportunity. First-mover in curbside EV charging, it’s electric, made a historic entry into San Francisco, CA, recently, bringing valuable curbside charging at no cost to the local government or business owner.

Multifamily EV Charging

Not everyone has access to a private driveway or garage where they can install a home charger. In fact, millions of people live in multifamily apartments or condos. Public and private charging at parking spaces provides these drivers with a reliable, accessible way to keep their EVs powered up, as few of them currently have charging available at home. Pando Electric is the leading company for multifamily EV charging applications. Pando recently announced it was awarded a $5.4 Million CEC grant to expand EV charging across California multifamily housing.

Huge Profit Opportunity for Parking Operators

Public and private chargers near retail and dining areas attract EV drivers who may spend time and money at nearby businesses while their vehicles charge. This dwell-time creates a win-win: drivers get a charged battery, and local businesses get increased foot traffic. There is also a tremendous profit-making opportunity for the parking operators to benefit from installing EV charging. Leading EV charging installer Lynkwell operates nationwide, including installing at parking spaces, among many other types of installs.

San Diego Padres Installing 20 EV Chargers at a Parking Facility for 2025 Season in Partnership with XLR8 America

One great example of the increasing value of adding EV charging to parking spaces is XLR8 America’s recent announcement in partnership with EVinfo.net.

Through a new partnership with locally-based XLR8 America, the SD Padres baseball team are installing 20 EV chargers to the Parkade parking facility, located at the corner of 10th Avenue and J Street, just steps from the iconic stadium.

Padres Parkade is an impressive ten-story, 1,130-space parking structure in downtown San Diego, California. It is one of the official parking lots of the San Diego Padres baseball team, and also serves as a parking facility for fans and event attendees at San Diego’s Petco Park.
