Fast Charge CA to Open New Statewide Incentives for DC Fast Chargers
California is ramping up support for public electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with a major new funding opportunity under the Fast Charge California Project 1, part of the CALeVIP initiative. Starting July 8 through September 30, 2025, property owners, site hosts, and developers with ready-to-build projects can apply for significant incentives to install high-powered DC fast chargers across the state.
This statewide program offers up to $100,000 per charging port, covering up to 100% of total approved project costs. Eligible costs include not just hardware and installation, but also planning, engineering, and permitting expenses. To qualify, projects must have a final utility service design and an issued permit in hand—highlighting the program’s focus on near-term deployment.
Incentive Breakdown by Charger Output:
150 kW to 274.99 kW: Up to $55,000 per charging port
275 kW and above: Up to $100,000 per charging port
All charging sites must be open to the public, but there is no requirement that sites be located in disadvantaged or low-income communities (DACs/LICs). However, projects in these communities—along with those located on tribal lands—will receive priority if they meet the ready-to-build criteria.

Why It Matters:
With funding awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, Fast Charge California is designed to accelerate the buildout of high-speed charging across urban and rural corridors. For developers, fleets, commercial property owners, and fueling station operators, this is a rare chance to dramatically offset the cost of high-capacity EV infrastructure.
Get Ready to Apply:
Make sure your project is shovel-ready. Applications open July 8, and competition for funds is expected to be high. Visit calevip.org for more details, eligibility guidelines, and to prepare your submission ahead of the launch date.
