Lucid Sets New Guinness World Record for EV Range

Things move very fast in the EV industry. Only one day after EVinfo.net reported that webCG Inc. set a new Guinness World Record by driving an electric vehicle (EV) an astounding 1,045 km (649 miles) on a single charge in June, Lucid announced breaking that record on July 8, 2025.

Lucid Group, Inc., maker of the world’s most advanced electric vehicles, has once again pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in EV technology. Last weekend, the Lucid Air Grand Touring set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, covering an astounding 1,205 kilometers (approximately 749 miles) without stopping to recharge. This historic journey took the sleek, all-electric luxury sedan from the alpine resort town of St. Moritz, Switzerland to Munich, Germany, navigating a mix of challenging alpine roads, highways, and secondary routes — proving that range anxiety is becoming a thing of the past.

“This range record represents a significant milestone – it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid,” says Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid. “Our Lucid products combine world class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today, which lets a Lucid travel further with less energy than any other vehicles.”

At the heart of this achievement lies Lucid’s proprietary electric powertrain technology, which has redefined efficiency and performance standards in the EV industry. The Lucid Air Grand Touring boasts a WLTP range of 960 kilometers and a remarkable efficiency of just 13.5 kWh per 100 kilometers — numbers that set it well ahead of the competition. Beyond its impressive range, the sedan delivers a powerful 831 PS, a top speed of 270 km/h, and can add up to 400 kilometers of range in as little as 16 minutes thanks to its ultra-fast charging capabilities. Inside, the Air Grand Touring offers an elegant, spacious cabin designed to seat up to five passengers comfortably, finished with premium materials that highlight Lucid’s commitment to luxury.

This latest GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title is not Lucid’s first collaboration with London-based entrepreneur Umit Sabanci and his team. In 2024, Sabanci set the record for the most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery electric vehicle, traversing nine countries in a Lucid Air Grand Touring.

“When I completed the nine-country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning,” said Sabanci. “This new achievement takes that journey even further. I’m proud to be part of a movement that proves electric mobility isn’t just the future; it’s already redefining what’s possible today.”

Now, with this new feat officially recorded, Lucid and Sabanci continue to establish themselves at the forefront of electric endurance and innovation. As Lucid continues to push the limits of EV performance and range, it reaffirms its position not just as a leader in electric mobility, but as a true pioneer shaping the future of sustainable luxury transportation.
