Driving electric vehicle adoption

SolarEdge Partners with Schaeffler for EV Charging Infrastructure in Europe

On August 5, 2025, SolarEdge Technologies, Inc., a global leader in smart energy technology, announced a strategic partnership with Schaeffler, a leading automotive and industrial supplier, to deploy electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and software across Schaeffler sites in Europe. The initiative will see the installation of around 2,300 charging points, starting with the newly electrified parking lot at Schaeffler’s Technology Center at its global headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The collaboration integrates hardware with SolarEdge’s advanced EV charging software, enabling Schaeffler employees and fleet drivers to conveniently charge at company locations. Powered by SolarEdge’s Wevo technology, now part of its SolaredgeONE platform for commercial and industrial energy optimization, the solution will provide a seamless user experience, including a custom app for employees.

SolarEdge, known for its DC-optimized inverter technology and comprehensive smart energy solutions, has expanded into EV charging, storage, and grid services, bringing expertise in maximizing energy efficiency while reducing operational costs.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with Schaeffler,” said Naama Ohana, Chief Commercial & Industrial Division at SolarEdge. “Our solar technology has powered Schaeffler rooftops with safe, reliable energy for many years. Now, our Enterprise Service Group is proud to further support Schaeffler’s energy transition by delivering EV charging software, services, and hardware. This is a great example of how our advanced software capabilities can add value to our customers’ energy transition strategy.”

Wevo Energy, acquired by SolarEdge in April 2024, was founded to address a critical gap in EV charging accessibility for apartment complexes, workplaces, and high-demand commercial environments. With the mission to “Electrify Every Parking Space,” Wevo offers cost-effective, scalable charging solutions that eliminate barriers to EV adoption.

By combining Schaeffler’s operational scale with SolarEdge and Wevo’s energy optimization and charging expertise, the partnership marks a significant step toward expanding workplace charging infrastructure in Europe, supporting both corporate sustainability goals and the wider transition to electric mobility.

Wevo Customer Case Study: Liberty Wines, London, UK

Liberty Wines, a leading fine wine distributor based in London, has taken a decisive step in its long-standing commitment to sustainability. Following the expansion of its operations and the commissioning of a 96,000-square-foot temperature-controlled warehouse, the company partnered with Insight Energy, SolarEdge, and Wevo Energy to deliver a unified renewable energy and EV charging solution that powers growth while reducing environmental impact.

The challenge was clear: maximize solar production from the warehouse’s large rooftop, reactivate dormant EV charging infrastructure, prepare for future EV adoption, and intelligently coordinate energy generation with demand — all without disrupting daily operations.

The solution began with the installation of over 1,000 solar panels (515 kWp), incorporating previously unused PV capacity. The system was redesigned and integrated into a single smart platform that feeds clean energy into both warehouse operations and EV charging. Wevo’s intelligent charging software brought existing but idle chargers online, aligning vehicle charging with solar peaks to prioritize self-consumption and minimize grid draw. The platform also enables scalable expansion, group-based billing for different user types, and mobile app control for staff to choose priority, scheduled, or boost charging modes.

The results are compelling: reduced energy costs through optimized solar utilization, operational flexibility to accommodate growing EV fleets, uninterrupted warehouse activity during deployment, and significant environmental gains — including an estimated 89 tonnes of CO₂ avoided annually and lifetime energy savings of £6.4 million.

From vineyard partners to delivery vehicles, Liberty Wines is embedding resilience and sustainability across its supply chain, supported by the expertise of Insight Energy, SolarEdge, and Wevo Energy. This integrated approach ensures every bottle delivered is part of a cleaner, more sustainable future.
