Flux Marine’s $15M Boost Fuels Production of Electric Propulsion for Watercraft
On November 19, 2025, Flux Marine, a leader in electric propulsion systems for recreational and commercial watercraft, announced it raised $15 million to scale production of its outboard motors and expand sales of its underlying powertrain technology. The investment round included existing investors, customers, and new partner Collide Capital, bringing the company’s total funding to more than $30 million since 2020.
Flux Marine has already commercialized its 115HP electric outboard and modular battery pack, the only high-voltage electric outboard in production in North America designed entirely from a clean sheet. With this new funding, the company is shifting from a two-year, customer-driven fleet validation program to volume manufacturing.
“The ocean environment is unforgiving – so after several years of internal prototyping and testing, we put systems in the hands of early adopters to rigorously validate real-world performance and rapidly iterate through customer feedback,” said Ben Sorkin, CEO of Flux Marine. “This period of testing with customers required a significant investment of time and resources but contributes to the overall capital efficiency of the company and instills consumer confidence as other players remain early in development. Since completing this testing with customers, we’ve delivered more high-voltage electric outboards than any other company on the continent over the last 18 months.”

A key part of Flux Marine’s strategy is partnering with boat builders to accelerate the rollout of electric boat packages. Its modular electric powertrain integrates across a wide range of hulls, enabling fast deployment with builders such as Scout Boats, Highfield, Flagship Pontoons, Hyfoil, and Zodiac. Flux-powered boats are already proving their versatility in the field, serving aquaculture operations in Maine, rental fleets on inland lakes, and even superyacht tenders in the British Virgin Islands.
“The future of marine electrification depends on empowering, not replacing, the industry’s best boat builders and dealers. Companies like Highfield, Scout, and Zodiac have spent decades mastering boat design and manufacturing economics to deliver products that customers actually want,” said investor Stephen Petranek, Operating Partner of Ocean Zero. “Flux Marine’s approach builds on that expertise, enabling partners to keep innovating in the market segments they know best while we focus on building the best propulsion systems.”
Supporting these customers is Flux Marine’s in-house software team, which has developed a comprehensive Fleet Telematics Platform. Every system in the field is connected via cellular link, enabling real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, OTA updates, and deep insights from trip data. New features continue to roll out regularly, with AI-powered predictive maintenance and intelligent route optimization coming soon. This level of sophistication is made possible by Flux Marine’s commitment to building both hardware and software in-house at its 40,000 sq. ft. Rhode Island facility, where the team also supplies undersea and aerospace companies with fast-turn, domestically produced powertrain components.
“Developing our own electric stack – from power electronics and cooling systems to battery packs and battery management systems, software and telematics, gives us complete control over performance, quality, supply chain, and long-term cost reduction,” said Sorkin. “More recently, we’ve received interest from other industries for our rugged and proven underlying technology. We’re leaning into these dual-use opportunities and have been actively delivering solutions to uncrewed platforms.”
With expanding production capacity, technical depth, and a track record of delivering more high-voltage electric propulsion systems than any other North American manufacturer last year, Flux Marine is not just participating in the shift to electric, it is helping lead it. The company’s work represents a broader move toward domestically built clean-tech solutions in the marine sector.
Flux Marine continues to push the boundaries of performance, reliability, and sustainability in modern boating. For more information on Flux-powered products or technology, visit fluxmarine.com or contact sales@fluxmarine.com.
