Premium EV Brand Smart Expands Global Presence With New Market Launches and Two New Models

On January 5, 2026, premium EV brand smart announced it significantly expanded its global footprint by entering new international markets in 2025, refining its product lineup, and strengthening worldwide operations. Building on this momentum, the brand is positioning 2026 as its Year of Opening New Frontiers, marked by additional market launches, enhanced smartcare customer services, and the introduction of two strategic new models.

During 2025, smart advanced its global strategy by launching vehicles in 10 new international markets. The brand now operates in 39 countries and regions across five continents, with strong customer adoption worldwide. Its blend of mindful technology and contemporary premium design continues to resonate, a reception reinforced by multiple awards in new markets. The smart #5 was named Car of the Year 2026 in Norway, while the smart #3 BRABUS earned Performance Electric SUV of the Year 2025 in Singapore and secured a place among Australia’s Hot 25 Cars of the Year.

smart also expanded its global retail network by 25 percent to 688 outlets worldwide. This growth included a 130 percent increase to 72 outlets across new markets in Southeast Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, and Latin America, alongside a 43 percent rise to 294 outlets in China. This scale-up is supported by smartcare customer services, built around the “at ease with smart” principle to deliver a consistent premium experience globally. In 2025, the integration of AI tools improved customer inquiry response times by 40 percent.

Supported by shareholders Mercedes-Benz and Geely, and strengthened by financing milestones achieved ahead of schedule, smart is set to accelerate its global ambitions in 2026. The brand will soon enter its 40th market and continue expanding throughout the year with additional launches and further enhancements to smartcare services.

smart’s product lineup earned broad recognition in 2025. It remains the only automotive brand whose entire model range has received a Red Dot Design Award, while all models have achieved five star Euro NCAP safety ratings. Performance-focused BRABUS editions and special models such as the smart #3 Keith Haring Edition and smart #1 Crema Edition further sharpened the portfolio. In China, the launch of the #5 EHD introduced smart’s advanced plug in hybrid technology.

Looking ahead, smart’s 2026 product roadmap signals a new phase of ambition. The upcoming smart #2 and #6 will expand the brand into new segments. The smart #2 will make its global debut in Europe in late 2026 as an all new city two seater built on smart’s self developed ECA architecture. The smart #6 EHD, launching mid year in China, will be the brand’s first premium fastback sedan, combining executive level space, Mercedes-Benz design, extended electric range, and advanced intelligence.
