XCharge NA and Energy Plus Partner to Build One of the Largest Battery-Backed EV Charging Depots in the U.S.

On January 7, 2026, XCharge North America (XCharge NA), the North American subsidiary of XCHG Limited, announced a new partnership with Energy Plus, a New York–based energy-efficiency and electrification contractor, to advance EV charging infrastructure across New York. The partners will develop a major battery-supported charging hub in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, scheduled to come online in the second quarter of 2026. Upon completion, the site will be among the largest battery-backed EV charging depots in the United States, featuring 44 XCharge NA GridLink 215kWh BESS/DCFC units with a combined 9.46 MWh of energy storage and service capacity for 88 parking spaces. The location will operate under Energy Plus’ Eplug brand, which focuses on high-performance urban charging solutions for dense metropolitan areas.

“Helping launch the East Coast’s largest battery-backed fast-charging depot is a defining moment for XCharge NA and for the EV industry,” said Aatish Patel, co-founder and president of XCharge NA. “Through this strategic alignment with Energy Plus, we’re proving that the EV transition can thrive domestically, setting a model for how public and private companies can come together to accelerate the clean energy transition and make urban energy cleaner, faster, and smarter.”

The deployment of GridLink’s battery storage technology will help relieve stress on the electrical grid by storing energy during off-peak periods and discharging it during peak demand. This approach enhances local energy resilience, supports grid affordability objectives, and enables broader access to diversified power sources across New York City. GridLink’s bidirectional power capabilities and decentralized architecture are designed to strengthen local infrastructure, address peak-hour grid constraints, and help moderate electricity costs.

“This is what American-made electrification looks like in practice: XCharge North America provides the cutting-edge technology and hardware, and we build the infrastructure here with local American labor,” said Moshe Lefkowitz, founder of Energy Plus. “Together we’re not only creating a model that any U.S. city can replicate, but also laying the foundation for Eplug, a network designed for real urban life—one that’s dependable, familiar, and as easy to use as stepping into your local café to grab a cup of coffee.”

The Eplug platform prioritizes operational predictability, a compact site footprint, and convenient charging access in locations integrated into daily urban activity. Energy Plus also intends to expand the Eplug model to additional major U.S. cities, with plans for transparent pricing, a rewards program, preferred rates, and partnerships with neighborhood businesses. Beyond individual drivers, Eplug will support commercial fleets with dedicated solutions enabling predictable scheduling, rapid turnaround, and high uptime to facilitate ongoing electrification initiatives.
