AVILOO Brings Valuable Independent Used EV Battery Certificates to the U.S. Used EV Market
AVILOO is a global provider of independent EV battery diagnostics operating in 70 countries. The company is now offering battery diagnosis for electric cars and plug-in hybrids to the used EV market in the United States. The company released Business-to-Business (B2B) support, with consumer support to follow.
AVILOO was founded in 2018 near Vienna, Austria, and has operated in the United States since 2024 from Denver, Colorado. The company began with its PREMIUM Test, a comprehensive battery assessment for individual EV owners, and later developed the FLASH Test using data from thousands of battery tests and its extensive battery database.

International Study: Customers See Independent Battery Certificates as the Key to the Used EV Market
In April 2026, AVILOO announced it conducted an international B2B survey of several hundred automotive companies across European markets. The results show that transparency and manufacturer-independent battery assessments are becoming critical to building trust, supporting purchasing decisions and strengthening the used electric vehicle market.
For 92.9% of respondents, increasing transparency and buyer confidence is a key reason for using an independent battery certificate. Battery condition is particularly important for older EVs and vehicles with higher mileage, especially as they approach the end of their original battery warranty. Providing objective information about battery health can reduce buyer uncertainty while helping dealers demonstrate the condition and value of a vehicle.
Independence is equally important. Some 93.4% of respondents said an independent battery certificate increases credibility during the sales process, while 88.8% highlighted the importance of manufacturer-independent results. The survey also found growing customer demand, with 84.4% of respondents saying customers are now actively asking for independent battery certificates.
The benefits extend beyond buyer confidence. Among surveyed companies, 46.2% reported achieving higher sales prices after introducing independent battery certificates, while 44.0% reported shorter vehicle standing times. In addition, 74.7% use AVILOO certificates to reduce the risk of complaints and returns by testing vehicles before purchase.
One dealer said an independent battery test had become a key sales argument when selling higher-mileage EVs. Another reported that a Fiat 500e that had been sitting on a dealer’s lot for two to three months sold within four days after an AVILOO battery certificate was created and uploaded.
Customer satisfaction was also high. Overall, 94.4% of respondents said they were satisfied with independent battery certificates, while 92.4% would recommend them. Trust, traceability and objective decision-making were among the most frequently cited benefits.
AVILOO says its FLASH Test differs from quick tests that simply read battery management system data. The company uses calculation methods designed to provide an independent assessment of battery condition, including State of Health (SoH) and potential defects. The test can be completed on a vehicle in about three minutes and currently covers more than 96% of available vehicle brands.
The survey included automotive dealerships, vehicle trading companies, testing organizations and fleet operators across markets including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Italy and the Netherlands. The findings suggest that independent battery certification is becoming less of an added benefit and more of a basic requirement for a transparent and professional used EV market.
AVILOO Names Brett Lippel as CEO of Its North American Operations
AVILOO appointed automotive industry veteran Brett Lippel as CEO of its North American operations as the company accelerates its expansion across the U.S. Lippel brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in automotive, mobility, fintech, logistics and SaaS, including senior roles at ShipYourCarNow.com, Lendgistics, Midway Auto Group and TrueCar.

Lippel will focus on expanding AVILOO’s independent EV battery diagnostics among dealerships, fleets, remarketing companies and automakers. The company says independent battery health information is becoming increasingly important as the U.S. used EV market grows and consumers and businesses seek greater transparency about battery condition.
AVILOO’s testing evaluates an EV battery’s actual condition rather than relying solely on data from the vehicle’s Battery Management System. Its FLASH Test can assess battery condition in about three minutes and covers more than 96% of available vehicle brands. AVILOO says its testing and certificates are TÜV and CARA certified.
Lippel said he believes AVILOO’s independent battery certificate can help establish a new standard of trust for used EV transactions. His appointment is part of the company’s broader effort to make independent battery diagnostics more widely available throughout the U.S. market.
