Hyundai EV Owners Get 10% Off IONNA Charging, With 20% Savings Through September
Hyundai Motor America announced on August 20, 2026, that eligible Hyundai EV owners will receive an ongoing 10% discount on every charging session at IONNA fast-charging stations across the U.S. The benefit began Aug. 19 and is available through Hyundai’s participation as a founding partner in IONNA, the high-speed charging network created by leading global automakers.
For a limited time, Hyundai EV drivers can save even more. IONNA is automatically adding another 10% discount through Sept. 30, bringing the total savings to 20%.
The discounts are automatically applied when eligible customers start charging through Hyundai In-App Charging or Plug & Charge using the MyHyundai with Bluelink app. The ongoing 10% discount can also be combined with other limited-time IONNA promotions and holiday pricing.
“Range anxiety was never really only about the battery. It’s about trust in the system built around it. Automatic charging savings for Hyundai EV owners at IONNA stations across the U.S. is the benefit: no codes, no apps, no math at the charger, just immediate savings on fast, reliable public charging built into the ownership experience,” said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president of product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “Hyundai is working to build confidence in the charging ecosystem through reliable charging, seamless payments, trust, and simplicity. We are investing in that infrastructure addressing one friction point at a time.”

“The power of the partnership between IONNA and the automakers is not only in delivering seamless charging, but meaningful benefits for EV drivers, as well,” said Seth Cutler, CEO, IONNA. “We’re proud to provide Hyundai customers with a 10% discount across our 150+ locations, as the first initiative designed to enhance charging for Hyundai drivers.”
Eligible Hyundai models currently include the 2022 and newer IONIQ 5, 2025 and newer IONIQ 5 N, 2026 and newer IONIQ 9, and 2025 and newer KONA Electric. Additional Hyundai EVs will become eligible as In-App Charging expands to more models.
Select Genesis EVs with In-App Charging or Plug & Charge are also eligible for the ongoing 10% discount. These include the 2026 and newer Genesis GV60 and Electrified GV70.
EVinfo.net’s Take: All IONNA Members Should Follow Hyundai’s Excellent Lead on Charging Discounts
All IONNA members should follow Hyundai’s excellent example and give their EV customers a direct financial incentive to use the network.
The timing is particularly important. Reuters reported on August 20, 2026, that the Iran war has pushed the global oil refining industry to the brink, signaling that gasoline and diesel prices could remain elevated for years. Even if the conflict ends, the resulting global energy inflation shock is far from over.
BEV drivers have an important advantage because they are largely insulated from gasoline price spikes. Hybrid drivers, however, are not immune because they still rely on gasoline. And all Americans, regardless of the car they drive, are exposed to higher diesel costs indirectly because diesel trucks transport a huge share of the goods they buy.
That means EV drivers are paying higher prices on food and a wide range of goods, just like everyone else in the USA.
On August 20, 2026, ABC News reported that data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that nationwide grocery prices rose 2.7% over the year ending in July, the most recent month on record, which amounts to triple the year-over-year grocery inflation in August 2024.
In July, CNN polling found just 23% of Americans rating the economy as good and 77% rating it poorly.
IONNA was founded by eight industry giants and iconic automotive brands: BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota. That gives the network an opportunity to do more than simply build charging stations. Its automaker members can use their collective scale to make public charging more affordable for EV drivers.
Lowering the cost of public EV charging would strengthen cost savings, one of the biggest advantages of electric vehicles. IONNA’s automaker members have an opportunity to make that advantage even more compelling by following Hyundai’s lead and offering their customers meaningful charging discounts.
If automakers want consumers to make the switch to EVs, cheaper charging is one of the most direct incentives they can provide.
