BYD Unveils Yangwang Altior Luxury Electric Sedan With Rolls-Royce-Style Coach Doors
BYD’s luxury automotive brand Yangwang unveiled the Altior, an ultra-luxury electric flagship sedan featuring Rolls-Royce-inspired rear-hinged coach doors, a four-seat executive cabin, and an impressive collection of advanced technologies. The global debut took place in Abu Dhabi, with pre-orders opening in China at 2.08 million yuan (approximately $311,500). CarNewsChina.com reported the news on November 7, 2026.
The Altior, also known by its Chinese name Dingyao, is designed to compete with the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and Maextro S800. At 5,600 mm long, 2,030 mm wide, and 1,590 mm tall, with a 3,500 mm wheelbase, the sedan is 201 mm longer than the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Its exterior features a large grille incorporating 137 gemstone-cut elements, distinctive crystal headlights, two-tone paint, polished monoblock wheels, and a hand-painted 4.8-meter dual coachline. The front emblem is made from 24-karat gold. The front doors open 80 degrees, while the rear coach doors swing open 90 degrees.
Inside, the four-seat cabin emphasizes passenger comfort and executive luxury. Rear passengers receive zero-gravity reclining seats with mechanical massage, leg rests, electric privacy shades, and a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted entertainment screen. Two built-in 5.5-liter refrigerators feature independent temperature controls.

Additional amenities include a folding business table, motorized storage compartment for champagne glasses, semi-aniline leather, natural lamb’s wool floor mats, and diamond-cut crystal controls. A 39-speaker Dynaudio Platinum Evidence audio system provides the entertainment experience.
The Altior uses BYD’s e⁴ platform with a four-motor electric drivetrain. Its advanced capabilities include tank turns, crab-walk movement, emergency flotation in water, and maintaining vehicle stability following a high-speed tire blowout.

Driver assistance technology includes BYD’s next-generation God’s Eye system, supporting point-to-point navigation assistance across urban roads and highways. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and BYD’s DiSus intelligent suspension system further enhance safety and ride comfort. Cameras preview road surfaces, allowing the suspension to respond within milliseconds to reduce bumps, body roll, and pitching.
The electric powertrain is particularly impressive. A second-generation Blade Battery delivers a claimed CLTC driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, equivalent to approximately 800–820 kilometers under the WLTP testing cycle. Its 1,000-volt electrical architecture supports megawatt-level flash charging, with BYD claiming the ability to charge from 10% to 70% in approximately five minutes.
The announced $311,500 pre-sale price applies to the Shanhe Dingyun Limited Edition, featuring an exclusive brown-and-gold exterior and brown-and-white interior. Buyers must place a 300,000-yuan deposit, approximately $45,000.

The Altior expands Yangwang’s luxury lineup, which already includes the U7 electric sedan, U8 and U8L SUVs, and U9 electric supercar. BYD has not announced customer delivery dates.
The vehicle also demonstrates how aggressively Chinese automakers are moving into the ultra-luxury EV market. BYD is combining distinctive styling, advanced electric powertrains, sophisticated passenger amenities, and extremely fast charging to challenge established luxury automotive brands.
