New Ad Campaign Says Electric Vehicles Mean Good American Jobs

The American EV Jobs Alliance is spreading the good word about EVs across the US. Over the past few years, more than $200 billion has been invested in creating over 200,000 EV-related jobs across America. These jobs span manufacturing, infrastructure, and technology, offering high-quality opportunities for workers. The group says it’s crucial that we don’t let partisan politics jeopardize these jobs and the future of the EV industry, and that supporting EV jobs is beneficial for both parties and the entire country.

Key swing states such as Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina are already home to more than 90,000 American EV manufacturing jobs. That’s twice the number of voters who decided the presidential race in these states in 2020. By continuing to support and expand EV jobs, the group believes in ensuring a prosperous future for American workers and maintaining the nation’s leadership in the global EV market.

The American EV Jobs Alliance is a 501c4 non-profit advocacy organization. The group states on its website: “We do not support specific candidates or do electioneering. We are financially supported by individuals, companies and trade associations that support American EV jobs, cleaner air and the strong manufacturing base America needs to support our military and protect our National Security.”

Six Figure Ad Buy Announced

The American EV Jobs Alliance announced a six-figure ad buy in Michigan, reported by the Hill. Joe Sacks, the executive director of the American EV Jobs Alliance, declined to specify the exact amount of funding beyond confirming that it totals in the six figures. When asked about the sources of funding for the group, Sacks mentioned that the backers include both companies and individuals who are committed to supporting electric vehicles and are concerned about the increasing politicization of the EV industry.

According to Sacks, these backers encompass a range of companies, from those that focus exclusively on electric vehicles to those that offer a mix of electric and gas-powered cars. However, he opted not to disclose the names of specific backers, maintaining their anonymity.

Michigan EV Jobs Ad

The group’s Michigan jobs ad focuses on jobs created by EV production. The ad asks whether viewers “want those jobs in China instead?” Without naming names it says, “When politicians bash EVs, America loses.”

Surveys indicate that Democrats are much more supportive of electric vehicles (EVs) than Republicans, highlighting a growing partisan divide that poses a critical challenge for both foreign and American EV manufacturers. This divide is a significant concern that the EV industry must address swiftly. The EV Politics Project, led by experienced political operatives with decades of expertise in Republican political work at both the national and local levels, is focused on researching the underlying causes of this “Red State EV Curtain” problem.
