GM Adds Access to Over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers with GM-approved Adapter
On September 18, 2024, General Motors announced expansion of its charging infrastructure by granting access to over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers for its customers. To utilize these chargers, GM customers can now use a GM-approved NACS DC adapter. This initiative is designed to enhance fast and convenient charging options for both current and future EV drivers.
With the integration of Tesla’s Supercharger Network, GM customers will now have access to more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers across North America. This number is expected to increase as GM continues to support the growth of charging infrastructure through its various partnerships. Initially, the GM-approved NACS DC adapters will be available to U.S. customers, with Canadian availability slated for later this year.
“GM’s ongoing efforts to help accelerate the expansion of public charging infrastructure is an integral part of our commitment to an all-electric future,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy. “Enabling access to even more publicly available fast chargers represents yet another way GM is focused on further improving the customer experience and making the transition to electric more seamless.”
To access the Tesla Supercharger Network, U.S. customers can purchase a GM-approved NACS DC adapter for $225 USD through their GM vehicle brand mobile apps. These apps will also allow users to locate available Tesla Superchargers, check station status, initiate a charge, and pay for their charging sessions seamlessly.
To guarantee a smooth customer experience, GM will source the NACS DC adapters from multiple suppliers. Each adapter is designed to ensure compatibility with chargers using the North American Charging Standard, allowing GM EV owners to efficiently charge their vehicles at Tesla Superchargers.
Additional information about GM’s public charging options is available on GM’s public charging webpage.
