On February 10, 2025, Chevrolet announced its revolutionary Blazer EV SS, the fastest SS model the company has ever produced, will pace at the 67th DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). With its impressive Wide Open Watts (WOW) feature, the Blazer EV SS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, showcasing the amazing performance and astounding speed and power of electric vehicles, beating gas powered vehicles.

“We’re excited for customers to watch the Blazer EV SS – the quickest SS we’ve ever produced – pace such an iconic race this weekend,” said Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet. He emphasized that the Blazer EV SS represents Chevrolet’s longstanding commitment to racing, underlining the brand’s deep roots in motorsports.
This marks the first time a Blazer has paced the DAYTONA 500, and it’s also the first time an EV has had this prestigious role at the race. It’s not only a huge milestone for Chevrolet but also a reflection of the growing prominence of electric vehicles in the motorsports world. Chevrolet’s partnership with Daytona International Speedway (DIS) is long-standing, with this year’s event adding another exciting layer to their rich history in racing. Frank Kelleher, DIS Track President, expressed his excitement: “We’re honored to have Chevrolet as a founding partner of Daytona International Speedway, and that the iconic brand chose to feature the all-new Blazer EV SS at the DAYTONA 500.”
In addition to pacing the DAYTONA 500, Chevrolet will also be showcasing its ongoing commitment to innovation by debuting the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype ahead of the race. This prototype is part of a collaboration between NASCAR and Chevrolet, aiming to explore emerging automotive technologies that will continue to shape the future of racing. Chevrolet’s continued leadership in motorsports is evident in its dominance of the 2024 NASCAR Manufacturers’ Championships, and its 102 wins at Daytona, including 26 DAYTONA 500 victories, more than any other manufacturer.
At the race, fans will also have the chance to see other Chevrolet vehicles, including the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Chevrolet Silverado RST, which will serve as pace vehicles for the Xfinity Series United Rentals 300 and the Craftsman Truck Series Fresh From Florida 250, respectively. These models, along with the Blazer EV SS and the Blazer EV.R, will be on display at various Chevrolet properties around Daytona International Speedway throughout the weekend.
Chevrolet’s participation in the DAYTONA 500 is more than just a celebration of racing—it’s a testament to the brand’s forward-thinking vision and commitment to advanced technology and sustainability. As General Motors continues to drive the future of transportation, the Blazer EV SS serves as a symbol of the company’s innovation in the transition to an all-electric future. GM’s portfolio, which includes Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, and Buick, is dedicated to delivering safer, smarter, and more sustainable vehicles, and the debut of the Blazer EV SS at one of racing’s most iconic events is a key milestone on that journey.
