Driving electric vehicle adoption

The Mobile EV Repair Industry Is Growing Fast

Electric vehicle (EV) sales in the U.S. are charging ahead, defying doubts and industry noise. According to the latest Kelley Blue Book report via parent company Cox Automotive, nearly 300,000 EVs were sold in the first quarter of 2025—an 11.4% increase compared to Q1 of last year. That’s not just healthy growth—it’s a strong signal that EV adoption continues to gain momentum, even amid market uncertainty and geopolitical headwinds.

EVs now make up 7.5% of all new-vehicle sales, up from 7% a year earlier. While that might seem like a modest jump, it’s a reflection of deeper shifts in the market—shifts led by bold product launches, evolving strategies, and a more competitive field of players.

At the center of this Q1 surge? General Motors. After a rocky start in 2023 and 2024, GM has finally hit its EV stride. With over 30,000 EVs sold in Q1, the company nearly doubled its volume from the same period last year, surpassing both Ford and Hyundai Group in the process. Much of that momentum is being carried by fresh models like the Chevy Equinox EV.

GM wasn’t the only automaker making moves. Honda and Acura, thanks to a short-lived partnership with GM, added more than 14,000 EVs to the U.S. market in Q1—an impressive feat considering they had zero EV sales in the same quarter last year. Other brands such as Audi, Porsche, and Chevrolet also contributed to the surge, offering compelling new models that are reshaping the EV landscape.

Meanwhile, Stellantis—parent to Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat—has finally stepped up its EV game. Though still in early stages, their Q1 releases signal intent and give consumers more options as the competition heats up.

Despite the strong Q1, analysts caution that the road ahead may be rough. New tariffs on aluminum and steel—core materials for EVs—are tightening margins, and the U.S.-China trade war continues to pressure supply chains, particularly around battery materials. While about two-thirds of EVs sold last year were assembled domestically, the global nature of auto manufacturing means no company is immune.

Further complicating things is political uncertainty. There’s growing speculation that the Biden-era EV incentives could be rolled back by the current administration, potentially slowing consumer adoption and adding another layer of volatility to an already unpredictable year.

As Cox Automotive analyst Stephanie Valdez Streaty noted, “The year certainly started strong, but the road ahead will be anything but smooth.”

Still, if Q1 is any indication, American consumers remain interested—and increasingly invested—in electric mobility. Automakers who can adapt quickly, offer compelling products, and navigate global headwinds will be the ones to watch as 2025 unfolds.

The Future of Auto Repair: How Mobile EV Repair Is Transforming Car Care

As electric vehicles continue to surge in popularity, the world of auto repair is evolving just as quickly. The traditional model—dropping your car off at a shop, waiting days for a fix, rearranging your schedule—is being challenged by something far more convenient: mobile EV repair. It’s a solution built for modern life, combining the precision of trained electric vehicle technicians with the flexibility of coming directly to your home, office, or wherever your car happens to be.

For many, it’s also a financial win. Without the overhead of a traditional garage, mobile services often operate more efficiently, which translates into lower costs for the customer. And in a world increasingly aware of environmental impact, cutting out unnecessary driving and reducing emissions is another big plus—especially when it comes to servicing electric vehicles, which already represent a cleaner way to drive.

The kinds of services available are growing rapidly. From battery diagnostics to brake work, tire replacement, and even minor cosmetic repairs, mobile EV techs are equipped to handle a wide range of issues. Most importantly, these aren’t just general mechanics—they’re specialists trained specifically for electric drivetrains, charging systems, and high-voltage components. That means peace of mind for EV owners who know their vehicles are in expert hands.
