CARB & CALSTART Showcase Next Generation Of Zero-Emission Heavy-Duty Trucks & Off-Road Equipment in San Diego, CA

The California Air Resources Board and CALSTART are bringing zero-emission transportation technology directly to San Diego with a hands-on Showcase + Ride & Drive event at Pechanga Arena on April 29, 2026.

The event will feature a wide range of medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles, including Class 2b through Class 8 trucks, commercial vans, school and transit buses, as well as off-road equipment. Designed for fleet operators, policymakers, industry professionals, and the general public, the showcase offers a practical look at how clean transportation solutions are being deployed today.

Attendees will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of zero-emission vehicles, participate in ride-alongs in commercial trucks, and engage directly with manufacturers and industry experts. In addition to vehicle demonstrations, the event will highlight available funding programs, charging infrastructure solutions, and technical assistance resources aimed at supporting fleet electrification.

A valid driver’s license is required for those interested in test driving vehicles, while media and other participants can join ride-alongs as passengers. The event is free and open to the public.

The program begins at 9:00 AM, with ride-and-drive activities and media access starting at 9:30 AM.

San Diego serves as a key freight hub, with more than one million trucks transporting approximately $40 billion in goods annually through the Otay Mesa region. This event underscores the growing role of zero-emission trucks and equipment in modernizing goods movement, reducing emissions, and improving regional air quality.

The showcase also highlights initiatives supported by California Climate Investments, which directs cap-and-invest funding toward projects that cut pollution, strengthen local economies, and expand access to clean technologies, particularly in communities most affected by environmental impacts.

Through events like this, CARB and CALSTART continue to connect public and private stakeholders, accelerating the adoption of zero-emission transportation while advancing both economic and environmental goals.

Evolectric Participates in CALSTART Zero-Emission Truck Ride & Drive

Evolectric is building a comprehensive ecosystem around fleet electrification that extends well beyond the vehicle itself. At the center of its approach is the CircularEV™ platform, which transforms end-of-life diesel trucks into fully electric vehicles equipped with modern software, diagnostics, and energy systems. Instead of requiring fleets to purchase entirely new vehicles, Evolectric focuses on repurposing existing assets, delivering a faster and more cost-efficient path to electrification.

This model is particularly relevant for both small and large businesses facing the high upfront costs typically associated with EV adoption. By converting existing vehicles, fleets can avoid major capital expenditures while still moving toward emissions reduction targets. The CircularEV™ system enables companies to lower their carbon footprint while remaining competitive in a market that is rapidly shifting toward zero-emission transportation.

For logistics operators and leasing providers, Evolectric’s solution is designed to unlock immediate operational savings. Retrofitting vehicles with electric drivetrains and integrated smart controls reduces fuel and maintenance costs while improving efficiency. Rather than replacing entire fleets, businesses can upgrade what they already own, extending vehicle life and improving total cost of ownership.

Implementation is supported by Evolectric’s in-house technical teams, who work alongside a customer’s existing service providers to ensure a smooth transition. Their certified installation and maintenance network provides training and ongoing support, allowing organizations to maintain continuity with trusted partners while gaining the expertise needed to operate electric fleets. This collaborative model minimizes disruption and simplifies the shift to new technology.

Evolectric also integrates advanced telematics and fleet intelligence into every converted vehicle. Real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance alerts, and remote monitoring capabilities help fleet operators stay ahead of potential issues. This proactive system improves uptime, reduces unexpected costs, and ensures vehicles remain in service. When support is needed, remote assistance is available to quickly resolve issues and keep operations running.

Charging infrastructure is another critical component of the ecosystem. Evolectric works closely with clients to develop tailored charging strategies based on operational needs. Many fleets rely on overnight depot charging using lower-cost, off-peak electricity, ensuring vehicles are fully ready each day. For added flexibility, access to fast charging allows vehicles to be recharged in under an hour when needed, supporting peak demand and unexpected route changes.

To complete the offering, Evolectric partners with financial and insurance providers to deliver customized financing options and EV-specific coverage. These services are designed to reduce risk and improve affordability, making the transition to electric more accessible across a wider range of businesses.

By combining vehicle conversion, intelligent software, charging infrastructure, and financial support, Evolectric is positioning itself as a full-stack solution provider. The company’s ecosystem approach allows fleets to transition to electric mobility in a way that is practical, scalable, and aligned with real-world operational demands.
