EVQ Rebrands to Clearly EV, Hires New CEO to Expand Embedded EV Tools for Dealers and Distributors
EVQ recently rebranded as Clearly EV, a Seattle-based public benefit corporation focused on building conversion infrastructure for the transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles.
Clearly EV deploys embedded tools, including an EV Savings Calculator, AI advisor and EV Marketplace, across partner websites. The platform is designed to turn EV-curious consumers into qualified leads for automotive dealers and distributors.
Distribution partners include J.D. Power, which is currently live with more than 600 dealers, as well as AutoWeb, Veloz/ElectricForAll and Efficiency Maine. EV lifecycle partners include Tenet, Polly, Qmerit and Plug.
Clearly EV was founded by Matthew Metz, who previously served as the company’s leader and is Of Counsel at Metz Law Group. Metz will transition to Board Chair, while Todd Edman will become the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Metz announced the leadership transition this week, saying that he, Douglas Pearson, Paul Rösler, Sorin Dragan, Til Dietrich, Matson Ho and Edman built Clearly EV because consumers need a better way to buy an EV.
“We created cutting-edge EV shopping, cost savings calculation, and AI EV-advising tools which make EV buying fun, easy, and informed,” Metz said. “More than one million people have used our tools in the past year.”
Metz described Edman as “a builder and a systems thinker with the operating focus to move Clearly EV forward,” adding that Edman has helped shape the company’s approach to working with consumers and dealerships.
Metz will remain closely involved with Clearly EV as Board Chair and continue his work to accelerate EV adoption, which he said he has pursued for 12 years.
“We are proud of what we’ve built and excited about where we’re going,” Metz said. “The best is yet to come!”
Metz also welcomed Edman to his new role as CEO.

Todd Edman brings extensive experience building and leading technology companies. Before joining Clearly EV, he served as CEO of Pollinate, where he built a B2B marketplace and inventory management platform connecting food producers with resellers and improving supply-chain efficiency.
Previously, he founded and led Bitcork.io, a hardware-software platform that used real-time data to connect wine producers directly with buyers. Edman also served as CEO of Waitrainer.com, developing cloud-based training systems for restaurant and franchise operations, and spent eight years as CEO of Lunar Logic, transforming the software development company into a full-service technology agency.
Edman said: “I’m so fortunate to be able to join such a skilled team, who had already established themselves as a market leader. The use of our AI Agent to accelerate this shift is a wonderful use of the technology that will have a lasting positive impact on our world.”
