Voltrek to Design and Install EV Charging for an Electric School Bus Pilot Program
Orion Energy Systems, Inc. Recently, the company’s subsidiary, Voltrek, successfully secured a contract worth $1.5 million. This contract involves the design and installation of EV charging infrastructure, with the primary aim of supporting an EV School Bus Pilot program. This initiative is set to be implemented for a large municipal school district, marking a significant step forward in promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options within the education sector.
The pilot program, spearheaded by Voltrek, showcases an impressive EV charging infrastructure designed to initially support an impressive fleet of 20 electric school buses, with the capacity to expand to up to 145 electric school buses in future. The project utilizes cutting-edge DC fast-charging equipment, underscoring Voltrek’s aptitude and readiness in managing large-scale fleet conversion to electrification. This not only signifies a monumental stride towards eco-friendly transportation but also reflects the industry’s commitment to a cleaner, greener future.

This project is a collaborative effort with Voltrek partners. The EV charging deployment is being partially funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.
