Driving electric vehicle adoption

CALSTART Leads the Workplace Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Effort With Charge to Work USA Program

As one of the leading, largest, and longest-established nonprofits committed to the electrification of the transportation sector, CALSTART has completed a significant and very impressive number of EV projects to combat climate change. For more than 27 years, the organization has pushed forward many programs that accelerate innovation, grow the electric vehicle market, create jobs in the electric vehicle sector, and reduce pollution.

The organization collaborates with businesses, organizations, and governments both nationally and internationally. With offices in New York, Michigan, Colorado, and California, CALSTART partners with over 210 members, which are all innovators in the clean transportation sector. Developing clean, efficient transportation solutions is the mutual goal that the partners work on together with CALSTART.

Charge to Work USA, a national pledge to implement workplace EV charging programs dedicated to employees

One of CALSTART’s many electrification programs for the transportation sector is Charge to Work USA. With the help of a grant from the US Department of Energy, it is the flagship program for CALSTART’s Light-Duty Vehicles Initiative. This initiative promises to drive the transportation industry to a clean and prosperous future. An online Workplace Charging Resource Center, organized by CALSTART, will help organizations with the planning and implementation of workplace EV charging for employees across the United States.

Charge to Work USA gives organizations information on financial incentives and rebates to assist implementation of EV charging stations

Incentives are a key part of establishing electric vehicle charging stations. The high cost of establishing these stations has been a barrier in the past, to companies and organizations alike. CALSTART’s team will work with external partners, employer participants, and co-awardees. This collaboration will ensure that all available grants, incentives, and rebates will be used in the establishment of the EV charging stations, to reduce costs as much as possible.

Charge to Work USA will allow more commuters to transition to zero-emission technology with electric vehicles

EV charging at workplaces makes a lot of sense. Barriers to EV adoption have been the lack of available electric vehicle charging stations, as well as the time needed to charge an EV. At the time of this writing, the charging time of an electric vehicle is on average much longer than filling a gas tank. Establishing EV charging at workplaces is an ideal solution to both of these problems, as employees who adopt EVs will have a very convenient place to charge their vehicle, as well as plenty of time to do it.

CALSTART provides guidance on implementing EV charging for employees

CALSTART will provide guidance for all participants and partners of the program, including employees, employers, CALSTART members, manufacturers, EV charging providers, utilities, and more. CALSTART’s Charge to Work USA program will provide improved quality of life, clean-tech job growth, cleaner air, and reduced noise. It will also provide equitable resources for diverse populations.   Sign up at the Charge to Work USA website, to keep current on the latest information on how to lead your workplace into the electric transportation future.
