EV Day 2023, San Diego CA, Was a Great Success

On October 14, 2023, a huge number of attendees gathered at Snapdragon Stadium, in San Diego, California to learn about electric vehicles (EVs). EV Day 2023 was hosted by San Diego Gas & Electric® Company, a subsidiary of Sempra®. The event included a large array of community partners.

SDG&E presented the event as a part of its extensive LOVEELECTRIC campaign, showing a deep commitment to EV adoption. The clean vehicle event was a smashing success, providing attendees with an enriching and enlightening experience. Large numbers of prospective electric vehicle (EV) owners had the chance to test drive a variety of new EV models, including those adapted with hand controls for increased accessibility.

The event was characterized by its relaxed, pressure-free atmosphere, allowing guests to engage in meaningful conversations with local auto dealers and gain first-hand insights from local EV owners. Moreover, attendees were provided with comprehensive resources to learn about at-home and public charging options, contributing to a seamless transition towards an eco-friendly lifestyle. The event also dispensed valuable information regarding EV rebates, incentives, and pricing plans, offering attendees the necessary tools to make informed decisions.

Event highlights included a variety of entertainment and activities suitable for all ages. Attendees could get involved in carnival games and interactive STEAM exhibits, providing fun, educational experiences. Local vendors specializing in eco-friendly products were present, showcasing their innovative, sustainable offerings.

The atmosphere was lively, with upbeat music and a special appearance by radio personality Geena the Latina, courtesy of Channel 93.3. The event also featured local food trucks and vendors, offering a variety of delicious cuisines. Attendees had the chance to win prizes and receive fun giveaways throughout the event.

Community partners and non-profit organizations were also present, providing valuable health and financial resources and services. The event was presented in partnership with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). Participants had the opportunity to engage in an adaptive workout and adapted yoga session led by EoS Fitness.

There was also the chance to cheer on local athletes and Paralympians during wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball on the CAF/Toyota Sport Court. Attendees also got the chance to meet Para Gold Medalist Liv Stone, creating a memorable experience.

Along with a large number of other eco-friendly company representatives, Nick Fiore of EVMatch met with attendees to explain EVMatch’s unique value to communities nationwide. EVMatch is a forward-thinking company with a mission of promoting accessibility and reliability to EV charging. The company firmly believes that everyone, regardless of their location or vehicle type, should be able to access trustworthy EV charging infrastructure.

Martha Carver of Plug In America represented the organization at the event. Plug In America (PIA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, stands at the forefront of ushering in an era of clean and renewable energy-based transportation. PIA fervently champions the use of plug-in cars, trucks, and SUVs that are powered by domestic and renewable electricity. These vehicles are not just a symbol of advanced technology but an answer to reducing dependence on fossil fuels, mitigating the impact on the global environment, and curbing greenhouse gases contributing to climate change. Furthermore, PIA advocates for the development and widespread adoption of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and other transport modes that predominantly make use of electricity.

The Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego offered a booth at the event. The chapter advocates for, and educates about, electric vehicles. EVASD supports the rapid adoption of EVs in San Diego County, California. EVinfo.net is a proud member of EVASD and EVA.
