2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV to Be Launched Across North America in Fall of 2026

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) released new details about charging capabilities for the all-new 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV, which is scheduled to arrive across North America in fall 2026. Following its global debut in June, the battery-electric crossover represents another major milestone in the company’s Momentum 2030 electrification strategy.

The 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV will come standard with the North American Charging System (NACS), giving drivers direct access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. The vehicle supports DC fast charging at speeds of up to 150 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes under optimal conditions. Actual charging performance may vary depending on factors such as charger output, ambient temperature, battery condition, and vehicle usage during charging.

In addition to NACS compatibility, the Eclipse Sportback will include a J1772 connector for both Level 1 and Level 2 charging, providing flexibility for home charging and access to a wide range of public charging stations.

The new electric subcompact SUV combines Mitsubishi’s growing EV ambitions with a sporty design. The vehicle features distinctive front and rear fascias inspired by other models in Mitsubishi’s global lineup, unique lighting signatures, athletic alloy wheel designs, and the automaker’s recognizable Triple Diamond branding.

The Eclipse Sportback EV is a key component of MMNA’s Momentum 2030 business plan, which focuses on four strategic pillars: vehicle electrification, an expanded product portfolio, a modernized retail sales approach, and stronger collaboration with dealers. Mitsubishi plans to significantly broaden its U.S. lineup by introducing a new or substantially refreshed vehicle each year through 2030, with future offerings spanning internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric powertrains.

The Eclipse Sportback will not be the only new product arriving as part of this strategy. Mitsubishi has also confirmed that an all-new rugged, off-road-focused variant of the Outlander SUV is expected to debut in early 2027, further expanding the brand’s utility vehicle portfolio.
