EVolve NY’s Network Reaches 300 High-Speed Chargers With 12 New Chargers at LaGuardia Airport
Last week, Justin E. Driscoll, President and Chief Executive Officer at EVolve NY, announced the organization opened 12 new EV fast chargers at LaGuardia Airport, bringing NYPA’s EVolve NY network to 300 high‑speed chargers across New York State.
Driscoll said: “This is the faster, sleeker, cleaner future New Yorkers deserve, accessible, convenient, fast, and exactly where mobility demand is highest. NYPA has been focused on accelerating fast‑charging infrastructure that delivers real outcomes: fewer tailpipe emissions, cleaner air, and reliable access for rideshare drivers, airport employees, and travelers.”
“I’m proud of the EVolve NY team for delivering the largest single bank of chargers in our network at one of the nation’s busiest airports. Thank you to our partners who helped bring this online: Port Authority Chairman Kevin J. O’Toole, Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia; NYC TLC Deputy Commissioner for Policy & Community Affairs James DiGiovanni and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. This is what community looks like when we build together. We’re not stopping here. More stations across Queens are coming online in the months ahead, expanding convenient, reliable fast charging across the city and state,” continued Driscoll.

The new public electric vehicle fast-charging station at LaGuardia Airport marks the airport’s first and largest bank of EV fast chargers.
The installation includes 12 high-speed chargers capable of powering compatible vehicles in as little as 30 minutes. Located on Runway Drive off the Grand Central Parkway’s Exit 7, the site is designed to serve ride-share drivers, taxi operators, airport employees, and travelers passing through one of the nation’s busiest airports. The new station is also the single largest charging site within NYPA’s statewide EVolve NY network, bringing the total number of EVolve NY fast chargers to 300.
The chargers are part of Electrify America’s open-access network and offer hyper-fast charging speeds of up to 350 kilowatts. Drivers can pay with credit card, mobile wallet, or the Electrify America app. To improve turnover and reduce congestion, NYPA will implement an 85 percent state-of-charge limit along with post-session idle fees. The site is expected to serve more than 100 drivers daily.

The project supports growing demand for EV infrastructure across Port Authority facilities and advances the agency’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. It also complements New York City’s Green Rides Initiative, which requires all Uber and Lyft trips to be zero-emission or wheelchair accessible by 2030.
Across its three major airports, the Port Authority now operates approximately 1,400 electric ground service vehicles supported by 775 chargers. Additional EVolve NY stations are planned throughout Queens and other boroughs as NYPA works toward expanding its network to 400 chargers over the next year.
Statewide, New York hosts nearly 3,000 public fast chargers at more than 650 locations, reflecting continued investment in zero-emission transportation and cleaner air for communities.

“This is the progress we’ve been fighting for. Seeing 12 new fast chargers at LaGuardia Airport shows that our commitment to clean transportation is real and it’s moving forward,” said New York state Senator Kevin S. Parker, chair of the Senate Energy And Telecommunications Committee. “Expanding the New York Power Authority’s EVolve NY network to 300 chargers statewide is not just a milestone it’s momentum. We are continuing to build toward our climate and equity goals while making sure working drivers, families, and travelers have real access to reliable charging infrastructure. This is how we create opportunity, reduce emissions, and ensure New York leads in the clean energy transition.”

New York Power Authority’s EVolve NY program is the largest public fast-charging network in the United States developed by a public power utility. Designed to eliminate range anxiety and accelerate electric vehicle adoption, the network installs high-speed DC fast chargers at roughly 50-mile intervals along major travel corridors and in key urban hubs across New York State. With sites spanning from Buffalo to Albany and from the Adirondacks to Long Island, EVolve NY provides open-access charging with power levels up to 350 kilowatts, enabling compatible vehicles to recharge in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. The program plays a central role in advancing the state’s clean transportation strategy by expanding reliable infrastructure, supporting working drivers and fleet operators, and reducing transportation-related emissions in local communities.
