McMurtry to Debut Production Spéirling PURE EV at Monterey Car Week
McMurtry Automotive will publicly unveil the production version of its all-electric Spéirling PURE hypercar during Monterey Car Week, with appearances scheduled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 14 and the Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca on August 15. The events will mark the first opportunity for the public to view the production-spec vehicle ahead of the first customer deliveries later this year. Following Monterey, the company plans to display the vehicle at additional dealer locations and racetracks across the United States.
According to McMurtry, the production Spéirling PURE incorporates 95% new components compared with the prototype vehicles that established several performance records in recent years. The engineering updates span the powertrain, battery system, chassis, aerodynamics, suspension, steering, and driver-focused features. The company said feedback from early deposit holders also influenced the final production design.

One of the most significant changes is the adoption of a new 100 kWh battery pack, replacing the 60 kWh battery used in earlier prototypes. The pack uses Molicel P50B NCA 21700 cells and is built around a standardized modular battery architecture intended to support future technology upgrades. McMurtry also increased regenerative braking capability to 200 kW across all states of charge, introduced new Helix electric drive motors with higher torque, paired them with an upgraded gearbox, and relocated the powertrain cooling system from the rear to the front of the vehicle. The company says the revised cooling layout improves efficiency while allowing cleaner airflow through the rear tunnels despite the larger battery pack.
The chassis has been extensively redesigned for production. A new carbon fiber monocoque meets global motorsport safety standards while accommodating the larger battery and providing additional cabin space, a repositioned A-pillar for improved visibility, and a wider door opening to simplify entry and exit. The wheelbase has increased from 2.0 meters to 2.2 meters, and the secondary door now features a revised hinge design. Additional production features include integrated headlights for nighttime track use, brake lights, indicators, hazard lights, main beam flash, and a rear wing that incorporates a storage compartment for a helmet and HANS device.

McMurtry also revised its fan-based Downforce-on-Demand system, introducing more durable fan blades, redesigned fan motors, an updated cooling system, and a relocated assembly to improve the vehicle’s center of gravity. The underbody skirt has been redesigned for greater durability over extended track use, while an onboard air compressor now operates the skirt system, eliminating the need for the external air bottle required by earlier prototypes. The skirt can also be retracted independently for trailer loading and low-speed maneuvering in the paddock.
The suspension has also been updated with greater articulation and a 20% increase in nominal ride height while in use. The production model uses wider Michelin slick tires, with increased sidewall height to improve compliance. Hydraulic power-assisted steering replaces the previous electric system, incorporating Formula 1-style valving to provide lighter steering effort and improved driver feedback. Electronically adjustable dampers will be available as an optional feature.

McMurtry lists the production Spéirling PURE at 1,000 bhp with a claimed 0-60 mph acceleration time of 1.55 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. The vehicle is capable of generating up to 2,000 kg of downforce from 0 mph through its fan-assisted aerodynamic system. Estimated track driving range is 40 to 50 km at LMP2 race pace, while charging from 20% to 95% takes between 20 and 60 minutes depending on charger output and ambient temperature. Other specifications include twin rear-mounted electric motors, rear-wheel drive with an electronic differential, carbon ceramic Brembo brakes, traction control, anti-lock braking, and an estimated vehicle weight of approximately 1,350 kg.
Production of the Spéirling PURE will be limited to 100 vehicles worldwide. Pricing starts at £995,000, approximately $1.3 million before taxes, shipping, and optional equipment. The company expects the first customer deliveries to begin later in 2026.
