Zipline and Uber Partner For Over One Million Daily Zero-Emission Drone Deliveries Across the U.S.

On August 17, 2026, Zipline announced it is partnering with Uber to bring autonomous drone delivery to homes across the U.S., with the companies targeting 1 million deliveries per day and plans to expand beyond that. Uber is also making a strategic investment in Zipline as part of the partnership, signaling confidence that drone delivery can become a routine part of everyday commerce.

The U.S. sees approximately 5.5 billion deliveries each year, with most relying on vehicles weighing around 4,000 pounds to transport relatively small orders. Zipline argues that roads and traffic create a physical limit on how quickly the delivery industry can grow. Moving deliveries through the air could help overcome that constraint while reducing the number of vehicle trips required for food and other goods.

“Teleportation isn’t science fiction anymore. It’s becoming part of everyday life,” said Zipline Co-Founder and CEO Keller Cliffton. “Every great transportation revolution has changed where people live, how businesses operate, and how economies grow. Together with Uber, we’re taking the next step toward building a world where getting what you need is as fast and effortless as sending a text, no matter where you are.”

Zipline has spent a decade developing an international autonomous logistics network serving more than 5,000 hospitals. The company says its drones have helped save more than 12,000 lives annually, delivered more than 20 million items, and safely flown more than 135 million autonomous miles. Each flight produces zero direct emissions.

“Zipline has built incredible technology, and Uber connects many millions of people with local merchants every day. Together, we’re shaping the future of delivery by creating a faster, more sustainable way for people to get what they need. We look forward to bringing this technology to more communities and making autonomous delivery part of everyday life,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber.

The Uber partnership combines Zipline’s drone technology with Uber’s massive transportation and delivery platform. The companies aim to let millions of customers order food, snacks, and other goods through Uber Eats and receive deliveries within minutes. Zipline says its service can provide deliveries in five to 10 minutes and allow businesses to reach up to 10 times more customers because of the technology’s speed and range.

The partnership will initially launch in markets where Zipline already operates, including Dallas and Houston, before expanding to additional cities. Restaurants and other businesses will be able to use the service as Zipline builds its U.S. network.

As Zipline expands, the companies envision drone delivery becoming an everyday service that reduces dependence on roads, saves time and money, and provides a safer, more eco friendly and more predictable delivery experience.
