Ryder System Adds its First BrightDrop Electric Vehicles to Rental Fleet
Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a renowned player in the realms of supply chain, dedicated transportation, and fleet management solutions, is excited to announce the preliminary implementation of its BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans. These state-of-the-art electric vehicles have been strategically deployed at four key Ryder facilities in California, Texas, and New York.
This move marks a significant milestone in Ryder’s ongoing endeavor to cater to the burgeoning demand for commercial electric vehicles (EVs) across the United States. The integration of BrightDrop’s electric vans into Ryder’s rental fleet is a testament to its commitment towards sustainable transportation solutions. Earlier in the year, the company disclosed plans to infuse 4,000 BrightDrop electric vans into its fleet by 2025, with the inaugural batch of 200 vehicles slated for deployment within this year.
To usher in this new era of sustainable transportation, Ryder hosted “Ride & Drive” events, offering customers a firsthand experience of these cutting-edge BrightDrop vans, along with showcasing the latest EV chargers from ChargePoint. These events served as a platform for customers to witness the power, safety, and efficiency of the vehicles, and gain insights into Ryder’s recent fleet investments and strategic initiatives with EV and charging manufacturers.
The company is thrilled to announce that the BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans are now available for rent at Ryder locations across four key markets: Santa Fe Springs in Southern California, Hayward in Northern California, Saginaw in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and Long Island City in New York.
“Working with companies such as BrightDrop keeps Ryder at the forefront of identifying and testing advanced and emerging vehicle technology, and we’re excited to incorporate these new EVs into our fleet,” says Tom Havens, president of fleet management solutions for Ryder. “Through our partnerships with technology providers and equipment manufacturers, Ryder can offer commercial fleet management solutions that drive sustainability and operational goals for our customers.”
BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans offer a range of 250 miles, payload of 1,460 to 2,450 lbs. and more
The BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans do not just simply come with a sustainable, electric powertrain. They offer a truly comprehensive solution for the delivery industry. With a range of up to 250 miles on a single charge, these vans have the endurance to tackle the most demanding delivery routes. Their load-bearing capacity is equally impressive, supporting a payload of 1,460 to 2,450 lbs. This robust carrying capacity ensures that it can easily accommodate a sizable volume of cargo, making it an ideal choice for companies looking to optimize their delivery operations.
Furthermore, the BrightDrop Zevo 600 provides ample cargo space with a generous capacity of 615 cubic feet. This means that businesses don’t have to compromise between going green and fulfilling their operational requirements. With BrightDrop’s electric light commercial van, they can efficiently meet their logistical needs while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
“Electrifying commercial fleets can reduce operating emissions without sacrificing range, safety, or performance,” said Steve Hornyak, chief commercial officer for BrightDrop. “By adding BrightDrop EVs to its fleet offerings, Ryder is helping make electrification possible for companies big and small.”
Rental fleet offers flexible insurance coverage, roadside assistance and more
BrightDrop Zevo 600s have been added to the Ryder rental fleet, boosting its eco-conscious service offerings. These rentals not only provide vehicles that are energy-efficient and eco-friendly, but they also come with flexible vehicle insurance coverage, ensuring customers peace of mind during their rental term. Additionally, Ryder offers around the clock roadside assistance, which means help is available whenever and wherever it’s needed.
The rentals also feature single-source maintenance, ensuring the vehicles are always in top-notch condition, ready for the road. Furthermore, the added feature of geotagging allows customers to track and monitor vehicle usage, providing essential data that can be used to optimize operations.
Ryder partners with ChargePoint
To facilitate the charging of these electric vehicles, Ryder has established a partnership with ChargePoint, a leading provider of networked hardware and software solutions for EV charging. This collaboration has enabled the installation of state-of-the-art charging infrastructure at Ryder facilities.
Additionally, public charging stations are widely available, offering accessible charging options for longer trips and greater flexibility. This comprehensive approach ensures that customers can enjoy the benefits of EVs without worrying about running out of charge. The launch of these EV options by Ryder is not just a step towards greener transport, but also a leap towards a more sustainable future.
