Driving electric vehicle adoption

Valuable and Crucial New Service Enters EV Charging Industry

The global electric vehicle (EV) revolution is growing at an unprecedented pace, fueled by a combination of technological advancements, environmental concerns, and supportive government policies. This rapid expansion is not only significantly reshaping the automotive industry but also significantly impacting energy markets, urban planning, and the global fight against climate change. Bloomberg NEF stated that the global market for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles peaked in 2017 and has declined every year since. Norway will soon reach 100% EV adoption, as the global leader. Norway’s 2023 EV adoption rate was 82%.

U.S. EV Revolution Growing at an Astounding Rate in 2024

In 2024, in the United States, it is obvious that the EV revolution has broken through setbacks to become the leading form of transportation in the future due to superior technology.

According to Atlas Public Policy, the U.S. EV market share for EV adoption reached 12% in December 2023, a new record. The tremendous success of Tesla, whose Model Y was the best-selling car globally in 2023 and the fifth-best-selling car in the U.S. in 2023, is a testament to this amazing transition. These two accomplishments are historic firsts for an EV. Numerous other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including GM, Ford, and every other major automaker in the world, now offer EVs or are planning to release EVs soon.

The American EV Charging Industry is Growing Very Fast, Thanks to Federal NEVI Funding

Because of all of the new electric vehicles that are hitting American roads more and more each day, the EV charging industry is growing alongside the American EV revolution at an astounding pace. Despite significant investments in EV charging infrastructure across the United States, nearly half of those wanting to switch from gas to electric cite the lack of charging as the biggest hurdle to EV adoption.

The $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), signed into law in November 2021, marks a historic commitment by the United States to modernize its infrastructure and shift towards cleaner, more sustainable energy sources. Within this monumental legislation, the $5 billion National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program stands out as a key initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) by funding the installation of EV charging stations across the nation. This significant federal funding is dedicated to advancing clean transportation and energy programs, with the goal of substantially reducing climate-changing, harmful greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). NEVI released an update on current progress in February 2024.

NEVI funds the development of federally designated Alternative Fuel Corridors, major artery freeways, and roads connecting the states, thereby facilitating interstate travel. In a noteworthy milestone, the first NEVI-funded EV charging station opened in December 2023. The federal government has a goal of building out a convenient, affordable, reliable, and made-in-America national network of EV chargers, including at least 500,000 publicly available chargers by 2030. NEVI ensures that the EV chargers installed are made in America by American workers.

Punctual Abstract’s Title Reports Provide Valuable Information, Even After an EV Charging Project is Completed

A title property report plays a crucial role in the acquisition and development processes of real estate, serving as a comprehensive historical archive of a property’s past owners, liens, and any existing claims or encumbrances that could affect its use. This report is an indispensable tool, often ordered by buyers or lenders during the process of purchasing or financing a home, and is equally vital in the realm of business property transactions. Its importance extends to projects such as the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, where understanding the property’s legal history can prevent future legal complications and support the planning and execution stages.

When completing the planning stages of installing EV charging, or even after an EV charging project is completed, these title reports reveal valuable information. Experts in the field strongly recommend obtaining these reports for any business property usage, emphasizing that the relatively minimal expense of a title report can preempt substantial issues, effectively safeguarding financial and legal interests.
