Life-Size Lego Cadillac EV Steals the Show at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix
A piece of automotive and pop culture history was reborn recently at the F1® Las Vegas Grand Prix™, where a life-size LEGO® Cadillac, modeled after Elvis Presley’s iconic 1950s pink Fleetwood Sixty Special, made its spectacular debut. LEGO Ambassador Ben’s Bricks went behind the scenes to uncover how this record-setting creation came together and what it took to bring such an ambitious build to life.
The project was assembled at the LEGO Kladno factory, home to the brand’s largest and most complex builds. There, the F1 design team constructed a full-scale replica using an astonishing 418,556 LEGO bricks, including 123,426 pink bricks, the most ever used in a single model. Built at a 28:1 scale, the massive Cadillac required 2,000 hours of design work and another 2,000 hours of building to ensure it delivered both visual impact and real functionality.
This was not just a display piece. The Cadillac was engineered as the official cool down car for the Las Vegas Grand Prix™, transporting the race winners from the finish line to the podium. Fully drivable, it stands as the largest functioning Cadillac ever made from LEGO bricks.
Upscaling a small LEGO model to a full-sized drivable vehicle was a challenge the team embraced. Design Manager Specialist Lubor Zelinka explained that the process began with creating a small-scale model and iterating through several versions. Working under a tight four month deadline, less than half the time usually allotted for life-size drivable builds, the team of ten worked around the clock to meet the deadline.
Attention to detail shaped every aspect of the design. From upscaled teacup elements used for wing mirrors to gold NINJAGO® accents forming the Cadillac logos, the team found creative ways to translate classic Cadillac features into brick-built form. The front grille, hood emblems, wheel arches, and even the whitewall tires all add to the model’s authenticity.
Powering the build is an electric drive mechanism capable of reaching 12.4 mph. Weighing roughly 2 tons, the same as the real 1950s vehicle, the LEGO Cadillac includes working headlights, turn signals, hazard lights, a retro steering wheel, a functional trunk with a spare tire and even a LEGO key to start the engine. Custom touches such as a single piece plexiglass windshield and neon style underglow lighting add flair befitting Las Vegas.

Cadillac’s Comeback: How America’s Oldest Luxury Brand Became a 2025 EV Powerhouse
Cadillac, founded in 1902, has worn the crown of America’s oldest luxury automaker for more than a century, but its journey has been anything but smooth. After dominating the mid 20th century with bold design, powerful engines and unmatched prestige, the brand hit turbulence in the 1970s and 1980s. Rising fuel prices, tightening emissions rules and aggressive competition from European and Japanese luxury brands left Cadillac struggling to define its identity. Quality issues, shrinking performance and outdated styling further eroded its once untouchable status.
But Cadillac’s story didn’t end there. In fact, its modern revival stands as one of the most remarkable comebacks in the U.S. auto industry.
Fast forward to 2025, and Cadillac is not just relevant again. It is leading. The brand has reinvented itself around advanced electrification, bold design and world class technology. Today, Cadillac offers one of the most impressive lineups of electric vehicles available in the United States, marking a dramatic transformation that few would have predicted decades ago.
The turnaround accelerated with the debut of the Lyriq, Cadillac’s first mass market EV. Its sharp styling, long range, and luxurious interior signaled a new era and set the stage for a fully electric portfolio. The flagship Celestiq pushed boundaries even further with hand built craftsmanship, cutting edge technology and a level of customization rarely seen outside ultra luxury brands.
By 2025, Cadillac’s EV lineup expanded to include the Escalade IQ, Vistiq, Celestiq, and Optiq, several distinct models tailored to a wide range of drivers: premium SUVs for families, performance oriented crossovers, long range touring vehicles and even early concepts hinting at high performance electric V Series machines.
Cadillac’s momentum in the EV space continues to grow. The brand is now the number one luxury EV maker for Q3 2025, and the Escalade IQ has earned MotorTrend’s 2026 SUV of the Year award. With more than 50,000 Lyriqs sold to date and 13 consecutive quarters of year over year growth, Cadillac is attracting new luxury buyers and strengthening its leadership in the electric segment.
How Electric Cadillacs Can Make Smarter Homes
Smart energy features are becoming essential as one in four homes now experiences a power outage each year. From extreme weather to wildfire related grid shutoffs, more homeowners want reliable ways to stay powered and connected. New home energy systems from GM Energy and Cadillac offer resilience, sustainability, and modern style in one complete package.
Real estate agents from The Agency recently toured a demo home in Calabasas, California to see how GM Energy and Cadillac are bringing personal power solutions directly into the home. A power outage no longer needs to disrupt daily life because Cadillac electric vehicle owners can use the GM Energy Home System to keep essentials running when the grid goes dark. This setup allows compatible Cadillac EVs to store energy and supply electricity back to the home when needed. The same equipment used to charge an EV at home can also send power from the vehicle’s battery into the house during an outage.

Homeowners can add the GM Energy PowerBank if they want to store solar energy or keep backup power available while taking the vehicle on the road. The system is designed to integrate with compatible solar solutions, and all six Cadillac electric vehicles are engineered for bidirectional charging, including the Lyriq, Escalade IQ, Vistiq, Celestiq, and Optiq. Cadillac owners can rely on their vehicle to help power a properly equipped home when the grid is down. GM released this news on November 19, 2025.
EVinfo.net’s Take: EVs, EV Charging Add Value to Homes, GM On its Way to Number One EV Seller in USA
Zillow’s 2025 home trends report and a new Realtor.com analysis show that buyers increasingly value energy efficient and resilient home features. Mentions of solar panels, whole home batteries, and backup power systems continue to rise across real estate listings. Builders and real estate professionals are finding that homes designed for resilience appeal strongly to buyers who want protection from outages and fire related shutoffs. Energy smart homes are becoming an advantage in a competitive market as EV ownership grows and solar incentives expand. Installing energy systems during construction is more efficient and cost effective than retrofitting later, and GM Energy is already collaborating with major utilities like PG&E through pilot programs.
If your’e shopping for home solar, there’s no better place to start than EnergySage, the nation’s leading solar marketplace.
If you haven’t switched from gas to electric cars yet, no time like the present. EVs are not only the most eco friendly transportation, but the most cost effective as well. As Tesla continues to decline under a bad CEO, GM is poised to take the crown of top EV seller in the USA soon.
