All-New 2026 Subaru Trailseeker EV Arriving for US Retailers in Early 2026

Subaru of America has unveiled the all-new, all-electric 2026 Subaru Trailseeker SUV, scheduled to arrive at retailers in early 2026 with a starting price of $39,995 MSRP. Designed as a rugged, go-anywhere SUV, the Trailseeker combines Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with a powerful electric drivetrain producing a combined 375 horsepower, 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds, generous interior space, and an estimated range of approximately 280 miles on a single charge. Subaru USA released the news in December 2025.

The Trailseeker will be offered in three trim levels, Premium, Limited, and Touring. It features 8.3 inches of ground clearance and the X-MODE Dual-Mode System with Snow and Dirt and Deep Snow and Mud modes, Grip Control, and Downhill Assist Control for off-road capability. On paved roads, the revised Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system uses front and rear acceleration sensors to dynamically adapt torque delivery during acceleration, braking, and cornering, improving stability and traction on varying surfaces. With 375 horsepower, the Trailseeker is the quickest production Subaru sold in the U.S. to date.

Subaru engineers further optimized the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system for the all-electric platform by introducing variable torque distribution for regenerative braking and power delivery. The system actively manages front-to-rear and side-to-side output to enhance driver confidence in a wide range of driving conditions.

Power is supplied by a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a standard North American Charging Standard charge port, providing access to more than 25,000 charging stations across the United States. Using a DC fast charger, the Trailseeker can recharge from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 28 minutes at charging speeds up to 150 kW. An onboard battery preconditioning system, activated automatically through navigation or manually via the touchscreen, helps maintain fast charging performance in cold weather.

The exterior design aligns with Subaru’s latest EV styling direction, also seen on the 2026 Solterra and 2026 Uncharted. The Trailseeker features a distinctive front EV light signature with an illuminated six-star Subaru logo, redesigned headlamps, a revised front bumper, and unique 18-inch and 20-inch wheel designs. At the rear, a three-dimensional illuminated SUBARU logo and rear gate garnish create a distinctive nighttime presence.

Built on a familiar Subaru SUV profile adapted for an all-electric powertrain, the Trailseeker offers 32.2 cubic feet of rear cargo space, enough for four large suitcases and comparable to the Subaru Outback. Standard raised roof rails support a 700-pound static load. With a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds, the Trailseeker is capable of hauling gear, trailers, and recreational equipment. Compared to the Solterra, it is more than six inches longer and nearly one inch taller, providing additional passenger room and increased cargo capacity.

Inside, the cabin is centered around a 14-inch Subaru Multimedia System touchscreen, the largest ever offered by Subaru. Metallic dash accents reinforce the clean, horizontal interior design. A large center console provides generous storage and integrated charging for personal devices. All models feature standard gray or black StarTex upholstery, while the Touring trim offers optional blue and black leather-appointed seating.
