Lucid Air Grand Touring Wins Longest Range at NAF Winter Test 2026
On January 29, 2026, Lucid Group, Inc. announced that one of its vehicles delivered the longest driving range in this year’s Norges Automobil-Forbund (NAF) Winter Test, known as the “El Prix.” A Lucid Air Grand Touring achieved an exceptional 520 kilometers during the coldest NAF Winter Test on record, with temperatures plunging to minus 31 degrees Celsius on snow-covered roads.
The vehicle completed the journey without any charging stops, traveling from Oslo into Norway’s mountainous highlands. The route included city traffic, highways, secondary roads, and mountain passes, reflecting real-world Nordic driving conditions. The next-closest competitor reached 421 kilometers, underscoring the Lucid Air Grand Touring’s clear performance advantage.
“We are proud to be part of the NAF Winter Test for the first time. I believe it’s fair to say that the Lucid Air Grand Touring is the king of range – even under extreme winter conditions,” said Lawrence Hamilton, President of Europe at Lucid. “This test offers valuable insights into real-world EV performance and highlights our remarkable progress in electric vehicle development. Achieving this milestone in some of the most challenging conditions underscores Lucid’s relentless pursuit of efficiency and innovation.”

The Lucid Air Grand Touring is powered by Lucid’s proprietary electric powertrain technology and offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 960 kilometers with a combined energy consumption of 13.5 kWh per 100 kilometers. Producing 611 kW (831 PS), the luxury sedan reaches a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour. Fast-charging capability allows the battery to add up to 400 kilometers of range in approximately 16 minutes. The vehicle seats up to five passengers and features a spacious, premium interior crafted from high-quality materials.
The model has also set range benchmarks in warmer conditions. In summer 2025, the Lucid Air Grand Touring established a new NAF Summer Test record, traveling 828.6 kilometers and surpassing the previous record of 672 kilometers set in 2023. In July 2025, it earned a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, covering 1,205 kilometers.
Conducted twice annually by NAF and Motor, Norway’s leading automotive magazine, the El Prix is the world’s largest real-world EV range and charging evaluation. The winter test simulates typical Nordic conditions, with all vehicles starting fully charged and following a standardized route until they can no longer maintain the posted speed limit.
Lucid Wins Car and Driver’s Range Test
Lucid came in first in Car and Driver’s range test. US Government-estimated driving ranges often fail to reflect real-world conditions, which is why Car and Driver developed its 75-mph real-world highway range test. As the name suggests, the test measures how far an electric vehicle can travel on a single charge while cruising steadily at 75 mph, a typical speed for long-distance highway driving.
For drivers who want to switch to an EV without sacrificing road-trip capability, this test provides a more realistic benchmark of highway performance. The following battery-electric vehicles delivered the longest ranges in Car and Driver’s evaluation:
Top Five 75-mph Highway Range Results
- Lucid Air – 410 miles
- Chevrolet Silverado EV – 400 miles (tie)
- Mercedes-Benz EQS – 400 miles (tie)
- Cadillac Escalade IQ – 380 miles
- Porsche Taycan – 360 miles
- Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV – 340 miles
EVinfo.net’s Take: Others Have Overtaken Tesla
Longer range is just one way Lucid and others are beating Tesla under Tesla’s bad CEO.
Former Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson told Yahoo Finance in August 2024, “We are considerably ahead of where Tesla is. We’ve taken that mantle. When I was at Tesla, Tesla was the tech leader. They’ve become distracted, and we have taken that place,” he said, referring to what he believes is Lucid’s tech advantage in batteries, software, and powertrain. EVinfo.net agrees.
EVinfo.net agrees. Also, Tesla’s cancelling its X and S models was smart as those were antiques. However, Tesla’s move into robots, robotaxis and AI are ill-advised. Other companies are light years ahead in every category, and Tesla has insurmountable mountains to climb in every case.
