Canadians Can Now Earn More Money Back for EV Charging at Home
ChargeLab, a Toronto-based provider of EV charger management software, has increased the rewards available through its ChargeLab Rewards program to 10 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for eligible single-family homeowners in Canada. According to the company, this makes it the highest-paying carbon credit program currently available for Canadian homeowners.
The new payout rate is effective immediately. ChargeLab said participants can begin earning rewards right away, with no payout tiers, minimum earning thresholds, or waiting periods. Rewards are distributed on a quarterly basis.
Based on the company’s average annual home charging volume of more than 3,500 kWh, a typical participant could earn over CA$350 per year.
The program is partially funded through Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). ChargeLab generates carbon credits under the federal program and reinvests the proceeds into expanding EV charging infrastructure across the country. The company noted that while ChargeLab Rewards operates within the CFR framework, it is not run by or officially affiliated with the Canadian government.
Homeowners generally do not need to purchase new equipment to participate. The program supports existing OCPP-compatible home chargers from manufacturers including Autel, Leviton, Siemens, and Wallbox.
In addition to earning rewards for home charging, users of the ChargeLab app can access several public charging networks across Canada without roaming fees, including SureCharge, Filgo, Nova Scotia Power, and the Ivy Charging Network.
The enhanced rewards are currently available to eligible single-family homeowners, while ChargeLab also offers similar incentive programs for multifamily residential properties and commercial businesses.
