Xeal Launches In Canada, Guarantees 100% EV Charging Uptime With Self-Reliant, Zero-IT Solution
On Canada Day in June 2026, Xeal Energy, the technology-first EV charging company behind the patented Xeal Protocol™, officially announced its expansion into Canada, bringing its self-reliant charging technology to multifamily, commercial, and institutional properties across the country. The move comes as Canada accelerates its transition to electric mobility, targeting 75% EV adoption by 2035 and 90% by 2040 while supporting consumers through a new C$2.3 billion, five-year incentive program that includes rebates of up to C$5,000 for battery-electric vehicles and up to C$2,500 for plug-in hybrids.
Catherine McKenna — Canada’s former Minister of Environment and Climate Change and former Minister of Infrastructure and Communities — put it directly: “As EVs become increasingly accessible to Canadian consumers through a growing range of available incentives, EV models and price points, adoption will continue to accelerate. Developers need to act now to ensure buildings are equipped to handle the needs of today’s residents and tomorrow’s drivers.”
As EV ownership continues to grow, the need for dependable charging infrastructure is becoming increasingly urgent. Xeal aims to address one of the industry’s most persistent challenges: charger reliability.
Industry data shows that nearly one in three EV charging sites experiences recurring downtime, with approximately 95% of those outages linked to dependence on centralized networks. Conventional charging systems often rely on cellular connectivity, cloud services, Wi-Fi networks, and signal boosters, creating multiple potential points of failure that can leave chargers unavailable when drivers need them most.
Xeal has taken a different approach. Its patented Xeal Protocol™ creates a direct, encrypted connection between a driver’s smartphone and the charging station, eliminating the need for cellular networks, Wi-Fi, ethernet connections, or external servers. By removing these dependencies, the company says it can deliver a 100% uptime guarantee while providing a simple tap-to-charge experience regardless of location or network conditions.
Nikhil S. Bharadwaj, CEO & Co-Founder, Xeal Energy, said: “As EVs become increasingly accessible to Canadian consumers through a growing range of available incentives, EV models and price points, adoption will continue to accelerate. With these new EV adoption targets set in Canada, developers need to act now to ensure buildings are equipped to handle the needs of today’s residents and tomorrow’s drivers.”
Bharadwaj continued: “Roughly 35% of Canadians live in multi-family settings and with 80%+ charging happening at home, property owners need charging infrastructure that just works. Backed by strong government support for the market, Xeal is expanding into Canada to support the next wave of EV charging infrastructure adoption for real estate. By eliminating the primary challenge for charger uptime, our self-reliant Helix Computing™ protocol guarantees a 100% uptime to empower Canadian real estate leaders to scale charging seamlessly and meet this increased demand.”

The company’s technology is also designed to help property owners maximize existing electrical infrastructure. Through dynamic power optimization, Xeal enables sites to deploy up to three times more charging stations using the same electrical capacity. In practical terms, a property that could traditionally support five chargers may be able to accommodate as many as fifteen without requiring costly utility or electrical upgrades.
Xeal enters the Canadian market with an established presence across the United States, where its platform supports more than 300 partners in over 500 cities. Its customer base spans multifamily housing, commercial real estate, healthcare, education, retail, and enterprise sectors, including organizations such as UBS, AvalonBay Communities, Lincoln Property Company, Brookfield, Princeton University, The University of Texas at Austin, and Pfizer.
By combining infrastructure efficiency with network-independent reliability, Xeal is positioning itself to help Canadian property owners meet the growing demand for EV charging as the country’s electrification goals continue to gain momentum.
