Lucid and Bolt Partner to Develop Autonomous Mobility Across Europe

Lucid Group and Bolt announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy autonomous mobility services across Europe, combining Lucid’s software-defined electric vehicle platform with Bolt’s European mobility data, operating infrastructure and experience. Lucid announced the news on September 17, 2026.

Bolt plans to deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous Lucid vehicles across multiple European cities and countries. The program will use vehicles based on Lucid’s upcoming Midsize platform and represents a major step toward Bolt’s broader goal of having 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035.

As part of the partnership, Lucid and Bolt will collaborate from the product-development stage on an autonomous-driving-system-ready vehicle platform designed for SAE Level 4 autonomous mobility.

The platform is expected to use NVIDIA Hyperion, a production-ready autonomous vehicle reference architecture and development platform that combines high-performance computing with a standardized sensor suite.

The program will be led by Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions, Bolt’s dedicated autonomous-driving unit. The unit is responsible for co-designing, integrating and commercializing autonomous mobility in Europe, with its role extending from product development through commercial operation.

Bolt will help establish vehicle requirements as well as software, safety and rider-experience parameters for autonomous vehicles operating on its platform. The company will also develop the fleet infrastructure, operating systems and city partnerships required to deploy autonomous vehicles at scale. Bolt intends to own and operate the fleet.

At Lucid, the partnership will be led by the newly established Lucid Technologies. The organization is focused on further developing and commercializing Lucid’s technology by bringing together the company’s artificial intelligence, advanced driver assistance systems, autonomy and broader digital functions under a unified structure.

Lucid and Bolt will work with autonomous-driving technology partners, European regulators and policymakers to support the safe, secure and scalable introduction of autonomous mobility services throughout the region.

The companies said the focus on Europe will enable Bolt and Lucid to address the region’s vehicle, technology and regulatory requirements as they develop autonomous mobility services.
