Driving electric vehicle adoption

Electrify America Passes Important Milestone of Over 1,000 Charging Stations

Electrify America, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, announced the opening of its latest large-format charging station at Simon’s Fashion Valley in San Diego, California. This state-of-the-art station features 20 Hyper-Fast chargers, capable of delivering charging speeds of up to 350 kilowatts (kW). These chargers can significantly reduce charging time, making EV ownership more convenient for drivers.

Strategically located at the popular shopping center, the station offers easy access to a variety of shopping and dining options, allowing drivers to charge their vehicles while they shop or dine. This new installation is part of Electrify America’s ongoing efforts to meet the growing demand for EV infrastructure by deploying larger charging stations across the country.

By increasing the number of high-speed chargers in high-traffic areas, Electrify America aims to support the expanding EV market and provide a seamless experience for current and future EV owners. With this installation, the company passed an important milestone of installing over 1,000 EV charging stations.

“Our 1000th charging station marks a significant milestone for Electrify America and reinforces our commitment to convenient EV charging,” said Robert Barrosa, CEO of Electrify America. “In just over six years, our team has rapidly built an open Hyper-Fast charging network across 47 states, the District of Columbia, and seven Canadian provinces to drive confidence in electric vehicles as the preferred choice for personal transportation.”

“Simon currently has more than 85 Electrify America charging stations at our properties across the U.S., providing a high-value amenity for our shoppers and the surrounding community to charge their electric vehicles,” said Daniel Segal, VP of Business Development at Simon Property Group. “Having Electrify America’s Hyper-Fast chargers on-site, along with Fashion Valley’s premier shopping, dining, and entertainment options in the San Diego market creates a convenient all-in-one destination for our shared customers to shop, work, dine and play.”

This new installation at Simon’s Fashion Valley in San Diego, California joins an existing Electrify America station at the popular shopping destination, increasing the total number of Hyper-Fast chargers at the property by 23. These chargers, capable of speeds up to 350 kilowatts (kW), further enhance the convenience of charging for EV drivers.

While charging at Fashion Valley, guests are encouraged to use the Electrify America mobile app, which allows users to track their charging sessions, monitor charging progress, and set up notifications for when their session is complete. This ensures that drivers can unplug promptly and make the charger available for others.

For customers with eligible EVs, Electrify America’s Plug&Charge-enabled network offers a seamless charging experience. After enrolling in their vehicle’s Electrify America Premium Offer, drivers can simply plug in and start charging without needing a wallet, smartphone, or bank card. Plug&Charge technology streamlines the process, making it even easier for EV owners to power up and get back on the road.

The addition of these chargers is part of Electrify America’s larger effort to meet the rising demand for fast and efficient charging infrastructure, supporting the growing number of EVs on the road today.

Electrify America Sets Ambitious Goal for 2024 After Doubling Charging Sessions in 2023

In 2023, Electrify America achieved a remarkable milestone by doubling the number of customer charging sessions, delivering over 10 million sessions and dispensing approximately 380 gigawatt hours (GWh) of energy. This significant growth highlights the increasing demand for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure as more drivers make the switch to EVs.

To support the expanding EV community and accelerate EV adoption, Electrify America has announced an ambitious goal to have 5,000 Hyper-Fast public and commercial chargers either open or under construction by the end of 2024. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to providing fast and reliable charging solutions as it continues to scale its network across the U.S.

The expansion will help meet the charging needs of a rapidly growing EV market, ensuring that drivers can access convenient, high-speed chargers in more locations nationwide.
