Revel Opens First EV Fast-Charging Hub in San Francisco, CA
On March 24, 2025, Brooklyn-based electric vehicle charging infrastructure startup Revel made its debut on the West Coast with the launch of its first fast-charging station in San Francisco. The station, located in the city’s Mission District, marks the beginning of Revel’s ambitious plan to expand its fast-charging network across the Bay Area over the next year. With San Francisco leading the country in electric vehicle (EV) adoption—over 35% of new vehicle sales in the city were electric in 2024, compared to the national average of about 8%—Revel’s move comes at a pivotal time as demand for accessible charging infrastructure continues to rise.
The new charging station is equipped with 12 chargers, each boasting 320 kW capacity, built by the EV charging company Kempower. Much like Revel’s stations in New York City, this location will be open to the public 24/7, catering to all makes and models of electric vehicles. Revel plans to expand its presence further in the Bay Area, with over 125 chargers slated to be installed across urban centers like San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and South San Francisco by the end of next year.
“For years, Revel has operated the largest, fastest, and most reliable fast-charging network in New York City,” Frank Reig, co-founder and CEO of Revel, said in a statement. “Now we’re bringing our model to the number one EV market in North America.”

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, who helped inaugurate the new station, highlighted the importance of these chargers in making it easier for residents to transition to electric vehicles. As the city continues to embrace EVs, Revel’s expanded charging network aims to remove one of the key barriers to EV ownership—access to reliable, fast charging.
“Our mission at Revel is to bring reliable fast-charging to dense urban areas where EVs can have the biggest impact on quality of life, but where charging is hardest to come by,” Paul Suhey, co-founder and COO of Revel, said in a statement.
Revel’s San Francisco launch comes on the heels of another milestone for the company. Just a week before, the startup unveiled 24 new chargers at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, located within the airport’s for-hire vehicle hold lot. This expansion is part of Revel’s broader push to grow its fast-charging network in the U.S. The company also recently secured a $60 million loan from New York’s clean energy investment fund, NY Green Bank, to accelerate the growth of its infrastructure. By the end of 2025, Revel plans to triple the number of chargers in New York City, including a major 60-stall site in Maspeth, Queens, and a 48-stall site near LaGuardia Airport.
As EV adoption continues to gain momentum, Revel is positioning itself to play a central role in the transition to clean energy transportation by providing fast, accessible charging options in key metropolitan areas. With plans for growth on both coasts, Revel is poised to help make the switch to electric vehicles a seamless experience for residents and visitors alike.
