All-New 2026 Jeep Compass Available as an All-Electric, PHEV or Mild-Hybrid
The all-new Jeep Compass has finally been unveiled, and it’s making quite the entrance. After a series of leaks last week, Stellantis, the parent company behind Jeep, officially launched the compact crossover on May 6, 2025. With a slew of impressive upgrades, the latest Compass promises to push the boundaries of what a compact SUV can offer.
This latest generation of the Jeep Compass is packed with powertrain options designed to suit a wide range of driving preferences. Available in Europe, customers can choose from an all-electric version, a plug-in hybrid, or a gas-powered mild-hybrid. Among these, the standout is the dual-motor electric Compass, offering a remarkable 375 horsepower from two drive units. Jeep’s engineering team specifically developed a 65 hp rear motor to allow the Compass BEV to conquer 20% slopes even when the front wheels lose traction. For those seeking a more balanced option, there’s a front-wheel-drive electric model that delivers 213 hp, as well as a 195 hp all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid. The specifics of the hybrid’s engine remain undisclosed, but it’s clear that Jeep has created an electrified Compass that doesn’t sacrifice performance.
The new Compass is based on the Stellantis SLTA Medium platform, which also underpins other popular European models like the Citroen C5 Aircross and Peugeot 5008. Measuring in at 179.1 inches long, this new Compass is significantly larger than its predecessor, which is sold in the United States, and even longer than the original Jeep Cherokee XJ and first-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Quick Charging & Impressive Range
Charging the electric Compass is made easy with 160 kW DC fast-charging capabilities, allowing for a 20% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes. For those who prefer a slower charge, the Compass supports 22 kW AC charging. The front-wheel-drive electric model comes equipped with a 74 kWh battery, and its maximum range is an impressive 404 miles (650 kilometers) on the WLTP cycle, making it a strong contender for long trips without the need for frequent stops.
Off-Roading Like a Pro
Jeep is renowned for its off-road capabilities, and the new Compass doesn’t disappoint. The two-wheel-drive versions come with a 7.9-inch ground clearance, allowing drivers to easily navigate obstacles and water depths of up to 18.5 inches. With an approach angle of 20 degrees, a breakover angle of 15 degrees, and a departure angle of 26 degrees, these versions are designed for adventure. However, the all-wheel-drive versions take things up a notch. With a 10mm suspension lift and redesigned bumpers, the AWD models boast a 27-degree approach angle, 16-degree breakover angle, and 31-degree departure angle. These improvements place the Compass at the top of the European C SUV segment for off-roading performance.
All versions come equipped with Jeep’s Selec-terrain traction control system, with the AWD variants also featuring hill descent control as standard.
A Design That’s Both Stylish and Efficient
The design of the new Compass is bold and chunky, reflecting Jeep’s rugged heritage while integrating modern efficiencies. The active grille shutter behind the front bumper helps improve aerodynamics, while the traditionally open seven-slot grille has been closed off to further enhance efficiency. The flat underbody and cleverly designed air slots direct airflow to the sides, helping to achieve an aerodynamic coefficient of under 0.3 Cx—a major improvement over the previous model.
For those looking for extra flair, the higher-end versions will offer a two-tone paint job, matrix LED headlights, a sunroof, and 20-inch wheels, ensuring the Compass stands out on the road.

Cutting-Edge Interior Features
Inside, the new Compass takes comfort and technology to the next level. The standout feature is the 16-inch central touchscreen, paired with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, both of which come standard. The user-friendly interface includes a row of physical buttons beneath the touchscreen for controlling the infotainment and climate control systems, striking the right balance between technology and practicality. To keep things fresh, Jeep has made it possible to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring that new features and bug fixes can be applied without a visit to the dealer.
A Bright Future for the Jeep Compass
With its blend of power, efficiency, off-road capabilities, and cutting-edge tech, the all-new Compass is set to redefine the compact crossover segment. Whether you’re tackling mountain trails or cruising through city streets, Jeep’s latest offering is ready to take you wherever you need to go.
The all-new Jeep Compass is already available for order in Europe, with the First Edition models set to be assembled at the Stellantis plant in Melfi, Italy. Deliveries to European customers are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with additional markets slated to follow shortly after.
The future of the third-gen Compass in the US remains uncertain, due to unnecessary and economically damaging tariffs.
