Scout Motors Production Center May 2025 Progress Update
Scout Motors announced its exciting May 2025 production center update on June 3, 2025. Since March 2023, when Scout Motors announced plans for a groundbreaking new Production Center in Blythewood, South Carolina, excitement has steadily grown. This state-of-the-art facility will be the beating heart of Scout’s electric vehicle ambitions—producing rugged, all-electric Scout® vehicles designed for the future of mobility.
Spanning 1,100 acres just 20 minutes north and east of Columbia, South Carolina, the Scout Motors Production Center represents a $2 billion investment in both cutting-edge technology and the community. Once fully operational, the center is set to create over 4,000 permanent jobs and build up to 200,000 vehicles a year—equivalent to 40 vehicles an hour. This facility is more than just a factory; it’s a promise of economic growth and innovation for the region.

At the core of the Scout Motors Production Center are several key structures that will power this impressive output: a body shop, a paint shop, and final assembly buildings. Each facility is purpose-built to support the manufacturing of Scout’s next-generation vehicles, built on an all-new body-on-frame electric vehicle platform.

May 2025 Update: Building Momentum
In this month’s update, progress on the main assembly building is striking. The photo above shows heavy steel installation now complete, with the first sections of roofing finishing material starting to go up. The assembly building, once finished, will cover nearly 1.3 million square feet—a massive space reflecting the scale of Scout’s ambitions.
A closer look at the photo below gives a true sense of just how expansive the assembly building space is. Crews have been hard at work laying the foundation pads for the assembly lines, and concrete finishing work is already underway. The sight of these foundation pads being prepared is a powerful reminder: every square foot here will soon be dedicated to bringing Scout’s electric vehicles to life.

Moving over to the paint shop, shown below, most of the work has shifted indoors. Installation of advanced paint equipment is ongoing, setting the stage for world-class finishing that will meet the expectations of both customers and future fleet operators. The paint shop is a critical part of the facility’s output, as it ensures that each Scout vehicle not only performs exceptionally but looks striking too.

The Body Shop: Ready for Action
Meanwhile, progress in the body shop, shown below, is just as impressive. Crews have completed the final heavy steel installations and are swiftly moving to put up the exterior walls. Roofing material installation continues at a brisk pace, and as the structure takes shape, it’s clear this will be a centerpiece of Scout’s production capabilities.
The body shop will cover more than 1.3 million square feet when complete, highlighting the sheer scale of the investment Scout Motors is making in its future vehicles. Inside, crews are working on finishing the concrete floors—a foundational step that sets the stage for the installation of production lines, robots, and other advanced manufacturing equipment.
Before long, utility installations will begin, bringing power and critical infrastructure to this key facility. Watching these early steps unfold is a testament to the level of precision and planning that goes into making an electric vehicle production hub come alive.

Investing in People: The Scout Motors Training Center
Equally important as the manufacturing structures is the development of the Scout Motors Training Center. As shown in the first photo of the center, displayed below, this state-of-the-art facility is also under construction. Here, future employees will receive the specialized training needed to operate cutting-edge machinery and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.
The training center is essential for building not just great vehicles, but a great team. It underscores Scout Motors’ commitment to creating lasting opportunities for workers in the Blythewood area, while ensuring that the vehicles rolling off the line meet the exacting standards of modern EV buyers.

A Vision of the Future Taking Shape
Every beam, wall, and roof panel going up in Blythewood is another step closer to realizing Scout’s vision: a robust, future-proof production center that will bring iconic Scout vehicles back to American roads—this time, fully electric and ready for tomorrow’s drivers.
With 4,000 permanent jobs set to be created and a production target of 200,000 vehicles per year, the Scout Motors Production Center is a bold commitment to sustainability, American manufacturing, and the future of electric mobility.
As construction moves forward, the Blythewood facility is fast becoming more than just a collection of steel and concrete—it’s a symbol of transformation and growth for South Carolina and the broader American auto industry.
Stay tuned as we continue to track progress in the coming months. For Scout Motors and the entire region, the future is electric—and it’s being built in South Carolina.
The Scout® Traveler™ SUV And Scout® Terra™ Truck Concepts Usher In A New Scout Era
In October 2024, Scout announced the unveiling of the Scout® Traveler™ SUV and Scout® Terra™ Truck concepts, redefining what’s possible in the world of rugged, electric-powered adventure vehicles. These vehicles blend the iconic Scout legacy with cutting-edge engineering, delivering robust off-road performance and a unique, multifunctional interior experience dubbed the Connection Machine™—a space designed to bring people together and support modern lifestyles.
At the heart of these electric marvels is a body-on-frame chassis with a solid rear axle and front and rear mechanical lockers, ensuring unparalleled off-road capability. The Scout Traveler is projected to tow over 7,000 pounds, while the Scout Terra boasts an impressive towing capacity exceeding 10,000 pounds—both paired with nearly 2,000 pounds of payload capacity. Thanks to an estimated nearly 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque delivered through a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system, these Scouts will be able to sprint from 0-60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds, putting them in elite company when it comes to power and performance.

Scout Motors is taking electric innovation seriously. Fully electric models are anticipated to offer up to 350 miles of range, with extended-range variants expected to top 500 miles by integrating a built-in gas-powered generator. This flexibility means that whether you’re exploring remote wilderness or navigating city streets, the new Scouts are equipped to keep you going wherever adventure leads. Underpinning all this performance is a modern zonal vehicle architecture that will enable over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics, and enhanced lifetime value for customers.
Scout Motors’ commitment to customer experience extends beyond just the vehicles. A dedicated Scout Motors sales and service network will ensure seamless, customer-first transactions and support. Entry-level pricing for the Scout Traveler starts as low as $50,000 with available incentives, while the Scout Terra starts at $51,500—both with retail prices under $60,000. Production is targeted to begin in 2027.
